Which Banana Would You Eat: Your Answer May Have an Effect on Your Health
Most whole foods, like bananas, contain both types of fiber. The soluble fiber in the banana, along with the magnesium and beneficial phytonutrients, slows how quickly your body metabolizes the sugar in it. This means that the sugar is less likely to spike or trigger an insulin overreaction that too quickly shuttles sugar from your blood to your fat cells to protect you from high blood sugar, leaving you hungrier than ever and craving more sugar. Instead, your body slowly shuttles that sugar to your muscles for immediate use or to your liver for short-term storage where your body can easily make use of it.
A banana is an edible fruit produced by several kinds of large herbaceous flowering plants in the genus Musa. In some countries, bananas used for cooking may be called plantains, distinguishing them from dessert bananas.
There are different kinds of bananas: cooking bananas, apple bananas, red bananas, pisang raja, lady finger bananas. Bananas come in different shapes, sizes, and color.
The bananas that we choose to consume have different effects on us. Given below are different colors of bananas which have different effects on our health.
1. Green Bananas
Unlike yellow bananas, you can eat green bananas only after they are processed, either boiled or fried. There are many tasty and delicious recipes of green bananas. Fried bananas have extra calories, of course, due to the frying. So, it’s better to boil them. They can be used to make gravies and curries. The green bananas consist of resistant starch. Green bananas help in reducing cholesterol. It controls the blood sugar level in our body and thereby reducing the risk of high diabetes. The green bananas keep our stomach full for a longer period of time as the resistant starch acts like fiber in our bodies. Green bananas are high in potassium. Green bananas are a rich source of vitamins like vitamin C and B6.
2. Yellow, firm bananas
There are no spots on the peels or on the fruit itself. These are very healthy for you and have a much sweeter flavor than green bananas. Because it is easier for your body to digest the yellow bananas, they’re a great snack for people suffering from any digestive issues. While the resistant starch level decreases with yellowing, it is replaced by a large number of antioxidants, which protect your body from disease by removing dangerous free radicals. The yellow bananas consist of dopamine and other antioxidants which reduces the risk of degenerative diseases, as well as heart diseases. It only acts in antioxidant roles rather than mood-altering ones, as the dopamine from the yellow bananas never crosses the blood-brain barrier.

3. Yellow bananas with brown spots
They are the older version of the yellow bananas. They are not as good as the previous ones. It is the most popular bananas of all times and people all over the world consume this type of bananas. They have broken down to contain more amounts of antioxidants and sugar. These bananas help destroy cancerous tumors. The brown spots on the yellow bananas indicate that it contains a high level of Tumour Necrosis Factor (TNF). The tumor necrosis factor (TNF) super-family is a protein super-family of type II transmembrane proteins containing TNF homology domain and forming trimmers. Members of this super-family can be released from the cell membrane by extracellular proteolysis cleavage and function as a cytokine. This is very important in protecting our body from many diseases.
4. Brown bananas
This is the last stage of a banana. Almost all the nutrients and the good qualities have passed away by this time. This type of banana contains a high level of sugar and must be avoided at all cost by people who are suffering from a high blood sugar level. However, the brown bananas have some usefulness to the body. The brown bananas contains tryptophan. Tryptophan is an ‘α-amino’ acid that is used in the biosynthesis of proteins. It is essential in humans, meaning the body cannot synthesize it: it must be obtained from the diet. Tryptophan is also a precursor to the neurotransmitter serotonin and the hormone melatonin. Brown bananas also help in getting over stress and anxiety.
