Violinist’s Childhood Bully Asks Her To Play At Her Wedding For Free—She Gives Her A Reality Check
The gifted violinist Tiffany Moore, who has almost twenty years of experience, recently told a moving account of facing down a bully from her early years.
Tiffany received an unexpected request from the woman who had formerly harassed her for her passion of music: she wanted Tiffany to perform at her wedding at no cost to Tiffany.
Her former bully started off his message with a phony smile: “Hey girl!!! It’s been forever,” she wrote. “I’m getting married, and I totally want you to play violin for my ceremony in October. It would be the perfect gift, PLUS you could use the photos and videos to build your performance portfolio! Win-win!”
With 19 years of experience in the wedding industry, Tiffany is an experienced expert who didn’t need to create a portfolio.
Her background includes composing, vocal coaching, and teaching a variety of instruments.
The Knot, a renowned marketplace for wedding vendors, has honored her on several occasions.
Tiffany gave a straightforward and solid reply. She brought up their past and the importance of her services to her ex-bully.
“Hello. It’s 1. Rather bold of you to assume that I’d gift you a $2,500 service. 2. You bullied me relentlessly in middle school for being in [the] orchestra. 3. Build my portfolio? You may not realize I’ve been recognized by The Knot and Wedding Wire 6 years in a row,” she wrote. “My ‘portfolio’ dates back to age 12. I’ve been in the wedding industry for 19 years.”
The prospective bride took Tiffany’s statement poorly, referring to her services as “overpriced” and requesting a special reduction.
She even made an attempt to win Tiffany over by claiming that she only wanted to be friends and move on from the past. Tiffany remained unmoved.
“I already have friends, thanks. I don’t have time to entertain your ignorance,” she replied. She underlined that clients who respect her professionalism and competence choose her services as a luxury.
The bride continued, offering $1,000 despite Tiffany’s obvious rejection and claiming that Tiffany would receive significant publicity at her wedding.
Tiffany politely suggested that the bride charge her 300 guests $5 for entertainment in order to defray the cost, but she declined once more.
“I wish I could, but I don’t want to,” is a quote from Phoebe Buffay that she used to wrap up.
The bride had a terrible answer. “Well well well, who’s the mean girl now, b**ch?! Go cry about not being able to pay your bills because you’re too greedy. Besides, you’re not even worth it and you suck!”
Tiffany shot back with equal acerbity. “Ugh, I’m devastated,” she wrote. “But I’m out of tissues so I have to wipe my tears with the tip money I got from my clients this weekend.”
On social media, the exchange went viral very fast, with many people praising Tiffany for advocating for herself. “Why do people feel that artist need to donate their art for exposure? It doesn’t make sense. You dedicate yourself to learning and perfecting something and it’s valuable. Exposure doesn’t pay the bills,” a supporter remarked.
Tiffany sent an update, stating that after viewing the screenshots on the internet, her previous attacker had threatened to take legal action. Since Tiffany had never stated the woman’s name, she wasn’t concerned.
“Clearly, 7 million of you care about the bully situation,” Tiffany wrote on her Instagram stories. “Thank you for the kind comments and show of support. When one person stands up to a bully, we all feel vindicated.”
