Did You Spot Hollywood Celebrities Wearing Red Pins At The Oscars – Here’s What It Means

Last night was the 2024 Oscars, and as usual, the red carpet was full of famous people looking their best. For one of Hollywood’s biggest nights, everyone makes sure to look their best.

But some people noticed something interesting that a lot of famous people talked about… Read on to find out more.

A singer named Billie Eilish and her brother, a producer named Finneas, were at the 2024 Oscars last night. A lot of people didn’t understand what the pin on the clothes of actors Mark Ruffalo, Ava DuVernay, Ramy Youssef, and Quannah Chasinghorse meant.

Afterward, the pin was also seen on actor Mahershala Ali, who didn’t walk the red carpet but instead went on stage to welcome this year’s Best Supporting Actor nominees.

A lot of people were confused about what the pin meant because none of these celebrities have worked on the same project together. The pin in question was round and red. It had a small black heart with the shape of a hand around it.

A lot of people didn’t know what the pin meant. These pins were worn by the artists to support the call for an end to Israel’s war on Gaza. Health officials in the Gaza Strip say that since Israel’s war began on October 7, more than 30,000 people have died. A lot of the people killed by Israel’s attack were children, since almost half of the people living in Gaza are under 18 years old.

People are calling for a ceasefire in the area more than ever as the killing of Palestinian civilians starts its sixth month. Many artists, not just in Hollywood, have joined the call for peace. Artists4Ceasefire got more than 400 famous people to join the cause. At the end of October, the campaign put out a letter asking President Joe Biden and the US Congress to call for an instant end to the fighting in Israel and Gaza.

But unlike the pins that supported movements like the Time’s Up movement in 2018, which were worn by almost all celebs on the red carpet, only a few celebrities wore the pins that called for peace at the 2024 Oscars. At the Grammy Awards earlier this year, only Boygenius and Annie Lennox were seen wearing the same pins. Lennox made a point of asking for peace on stage.

It was seen that Milo Machado-Graner and Swann Arlaud, who were in the movie Anatomy of a Fall, wore Palestinian flag pins on the red carpet.

Ramy Youssef, an actor and comedian who co-starred in “Poor Things” with Emma Stone and Mark Ruffalo, was upset that the call for a truce and the end of the war against Gaza was not moving forward.

“There’s no other route,” Youssef said in an interview alluding to the call for a ceasefire. “It’s taking so long… That’s what we’re all encouraging everyone to be vocal about.”

Stars like Cate Blanchett, Ben Affleck, Jennifer Lopez, Bradley Cooper, and America Ferrera also signed the Artists4Ceasefire letter.

It’s so cool to finally understand why some artists wore those pins. Tell other people about this so they can finally understand why some famous people were wearing those pins!
