You know how most of us learn the lessons of life the hard way? We only wish someone was there to guide us from the beginning! It’s never too late though.

Here are 20 of the life advice you need to know. The life advice which will help you build a happier, comfier life for yourself!

1. Dating your pre-existing best friend is a no-go zone

Losing your best friend is agonizing and unbearable. Even though it is kind of inevitable that you will fall for your best friend, when and if things don’t go well, you two will never be the same. It’s painful.

2. Honesty is the first rule, especially with your own self

You have to speak the truth, at all times. Most importantly, the truth needs to be so for yourself. You shouldn’t speak to please others.

3. Show a kind gesture once a day to someone

Kindness creates a ripple effect. It will help you become better and make others happy.

4. Let go of anger

It is one of the most destructive negative feelings. It eats you up like a fire eats the wood. Feelings of resentment do not do any good to anyone, especially not yourself. “Anger is like holding onto a burning hot coal with the intent to throw it at someone else – you’re the only one who gets burnt.”

5. Always try your best to be positive

It is no secret that we all emit energies. Try to think positive at all times and you will give out positive vibes. It will make your life a lot happier!

6. Forgiveness is a strength

You need to learn to forgive and be patient. The more you learn to forgive and forget, the more peace and enlightenment you will find.

7. Plans do not always work

Be spontaneous rather than sticking to some plan you made when you were 8. Live life as of this moment.

8. Put your phone down

Life is happening right now. Experience it in all its glory. Put your phone down and immerse in nature. Do things which genuinely make you happy.

9. Stop comparing yourself to people on social media

What you see on social media is only half their lives. Such a comparison only hurts you and your self-esteem. They don’t have it better than you.

10. Practice thankfulness

Gratitude can do more than you think. Appreciate the minutest of efforts and favors. The more thankful you are, the more there is to be thankful for.

11. Trust your gut and intuition

There is this sixth sense. It’s what your gut and intuitions tell you. Listen to it. It won’t steer you wrong but lead you right.

12. Never be afraid to ask for help when you need it

There is no shame in asking for help. It will only add to your experience and knowledge. It doesn’t make you a coward but it makes you brave!

13. Hate doesn’t defeat hate

Hating someone you hate only complicates the matter. It destroys you. You can’t really fight fire with fire. You will end up burning yourself.

14. Doing bad things doesn’t make someone a bad person

Circumstances and situations compel good people to do bad things at times. Do not judge so easily. Humans are bound to make mistakes.

15. Money isn’t everything

Your money won’t matter at your deathbed. What will matter are the good times and memories you shared with your loved ones. Greed for money is probably one of the ugliest things you can have!

16. Laugh as much as possible

Science says those who laugh, live longer! Be happy and make others happy!

17. Date someone who brings out the absolute best in you

Be with someone who accepts you as you are and encourages you to be a better version of yourself. Someone who respects you, adores you and inspires you.

18. It takes twice as long to build the bridges you burn

It’s easy to end things or speak hurtfully. Think twice before burning a bridge which might not be able to be rebuilt. There is no going back.

19. If someone holds a grudge, it’s their problem – not yours

Why bother yourself with something you can’t control? You apologized and tried making things better. There’s nothing more you can do. It’s their problem if they can’t deal with it.

20. Travelling is how you truly discover yourself

It is the best way to discover yourself. Travelling allows you to reflect and understand your own self. It is the best way you can possibly treat yourself!
