10 Things You’re Doing Now That You’ll Seriously Regret In 10 Years

As we grow older, we tend to look back in our life and evaluate it. We discover some gratifying things and some things we wish we could have done differently.

Life is too short to do regretful things. Nobody wants that. We all want to be happy when we look back. None of us wants to have a list of things we didn’t do or did wrong. There is no going back.

Here are the 10 choices you make earlier in your life and you will regret later. Avoid them now.

1. Wearing a mask to impress others

If you aren’t true to yourself, how do you expect others to like you? Wearing a mask, being someone merely to impress others, will get you nowhere. You will only end up losing your own self. When you embrace your uniqueness and individuality, people are attracted to you. Then, you don’t need to wear a mask to impress and inspire them.

2. Letting someone else build your dreams for you

Why would you? It’s your life. You know, the greatest challenge in life is discovering who you are. And the second greatest is being content with what you find and with what you do. Only you know your capabilities and aspirations. If people disagree with how you do things, let them. At least you are walking down your own path. Stay true to your hopes and dreams!

3. Keeping negative company

Nobody needs negativity in their life, especially if it’s coming from the people close to you. Don’t let their bad attitude get the better of you. You need people who inspire you to do good, to be generous, feel freedom, compassion and patience.

4. Being selfish and egotistical

Being self-centered, bothered by your own happiness only and not being kind enough, doesn’t get you anywhere. It is probably one of the greatest regrets of life: not having people around when you need them. Touch others with your kindness. Allow them to remember you by good.

5. Avoiding change and growth

Change requires you to learn from your past and let it go. With change comes growth. You will never move on if you continue dwelling on the past. What was in the past is in the past. You can’t change it. But you can take measures to make things right in your present.

6. Giving up during tough times

So what if you failed? So what if things didn’t go as you planned? It is always for the better. You get what you need, not what you want. Persevere. Be patient. Hard times only make you stronger and more resilient. Just don’t give up or succumb to your hardships. Stand up. Learn from them.

7. Trying to micromanage every darn thing

Things don’t necessarily go as we want them to. Sometimes, we need to let our lives be and not intervene with every single moment. Life will unfold as it is supposed to, even if you try figuring out all the answers before time. Your life is just the way it is supposed to be. It will take a while but you will connect the dots.

8. Settling for anything less than you deserve

Know your worth. Know what you deserve and do not settle for anything less. It might take you a while realizing your value. You might get knocked down multiple times but only to stand up stronger. Don’t ever remain knocked down. Don’t settle.

9. Endlessly waiting for tomorrow

Leaving things for tomorrow isn’t as productive as it sounds. Life is about today, about this very moment. Cease it. One day you will wake up only to realize there is no tomorrow for all the things you had planned. Tomorrow, you will have something else to deal with. All you have is today.

10. Being lazy and wishy-washy.

You will realize that all the procrastination, all the laziness and all the lethargy will cost you. You will realize that you needed the world and that it is not the other way around. You will wish you had taken control of things and taken responsibility for your actions. You don’t have to wait around for things to happen. You need to make them happen!
