The Horrifying True Story About The NBA Star Who Became A Homeless Man

How do you go from hitting game winning shots next to LeBron James, making over 16 million dollars to a homeless man on the side of the street?

He made over $16 million dollars, and ended up being detained from the street saying “I am the actual leader of all the gangs” in a viral video.

This is the story of Delonte West.

He had one of the toughest childhoods in the NBA. He grew up being bullied, parents divorced, and poverty. He was always feeling left out and couldn’t find himself to belong.

When it comes to child development, it’s been said that the most crucial milestones in a kid’s life occur by the age of 7. In fact, the great Greek philosopher Aristotle once said, “Give me a child until he is 7 and I will show you the man.” Delone didn’t have the the opportunity to develop well in the most crucial years…

The only thing that he had was basketball.

But if we don’t clear out the past, it always has a way of kicking us back in the… you know what.

Delonte was first arrested on his motorcycle in DC. He had 3 guns pointed at him. But he got away with a slap on the wrist. He got 8 months of house arrest, 2 months of probation and 40 hours of community service.

But the next season, Delonte got involved in a controversy that left a stain on him and LeBron James. He was allegedly dating LeBron’s mom and LeBron suffered in-game knowing the things they said about Delone and his mom. He was instantly transferred to the Timberwolves.

It turned out that Delonte wasn’t managing his money as he should, and by making all the wrong moves during his ‘star days in the NBA’ he then got a job at The Home Depot. From an NBA star to The Home Depot employee, his life started taking turn for the worse, until years after he was noticed begging for money on the street with a cardboard, while battling drug abuse.

At one point Mark Cuban tried to help the former NBA star, but if we can’t find a way to fix ourselves, no one can do it for us.
