Here’s Why You Shouldn’t You Set The Air Conditioner To 26°C At Night
Setting the air conditioner to 26°C at night may not be the best option for a number of reasons:
1. Body Temperature Drops at Night
As you sleep at night, your body temperature naturally decreases.
The room may feel overly warm at night if the thermostat is set to 26°C, even though it may feel comfortable during the day.
Your sleep may be disturbed, and you may have discomfort and heat.
2. Energy Consumption
Air conditioners work harder to maintain lower temperatures, particularly at night when the outside temperature decreases.
More energy is needed to maintain the AC at a steady 26°C, which raises power expenses and usage.
Energy consumption can be decreased by modestly increasing the temperature, say to 27–28 °C, without noticeably compromising comfort.
3. Impact on Health
Cooler nighttime air can cause health issues like dry skin, throat irritation, and even lung disorders.
Long-term exposure to chilly air during sleep can weaken the body’s defenses against colds and raise the risk of contracting diseases.
4. Humidity Levels
Long-term use of the air conditioner at lower temperatures can cause the room’s humidity to drop, leaving the air too dry.
Dehydration, dry eyes, and dry nasal passages may result from this, particularly if the air conditioner is left at 26°C all night.
5. Sleep Disruption
Your body may shiver in an overly cold room, disrupting your sleep.
Despite the fact that 26°C may seem like a modest temperature, lower body temperatures can nevertheless cause discomfort at night.
6. Suggested Temperature for Nighttime
The majority of experts advise keeping the air conditioner set between 27°C and 29°C at night.
This is typically enough to keep you comfortable while conserving energy and preventing any health problems.
