Gut-Wrenching Tragedy: At Least Six Are Killed When A Tourist Submarine Sinks
Unfortunately, there was a terrible accident in the Red Sea near Egypt.
A tourist submarine with 44 people on board, including children and people from different countries, sank while they were exploring the coral reefs.
Several people have died in the event, and there is a huge rescue operation going on.

Started to sink
According to the local newspaper Al-Masry Al-Youm, the tourist submarine Sindbad was getting ready for a trip in the Hurghada area of Egypt’s Red Sea. On Thursday, something very bad happened with the submarine that takes tourists deep underground to see coral reefs and lots of different kinds of sea life.
According to sources, the tourist submarine sank in front of the marina of one of Hurghada’s well-known hotels. Six people died and nine were hurt, with four being in serious condition. Twenty-nine more people were saved.
As the submarine began to sink, a rescue effort was started. The Egyptian Ambulance Authority and the Red Sea Health Directorate were said to be on high alert. Twenty-one ambulances, as well as police and relief workers, were sent to the scene.
Sindbad has been running trips for tourists in the Hurghada area for a number of years.
The business states on its website that it has two of the world’s “14 real recreational submarines.” The boat can go down 82 feet into the water, which gives passengers amazing views of the coral reefs and sea life.
”[Go] below sea level for 40 minutes enjoying the corals and fish with divers show to take photos for unforgettable memory, then you will be transferred back by the same boat to the marine,” Sindbad Submarines states and addes:
”Enjoy the comfort and safety of our air-conditioned submarine, designed with 44 passenger seats, two pilot seats, and large round viewing windows for an unparalleled underwater experience.”
Six foreign nationals were killed
The governor’s office in Hurghada told the New York Post that six foreigners were killed, but they did not say what countries they were from.
At the same time, the Russian mission in Egypt said on Facebook that all of the tourists were Russian citizens. However, the ambassador said that only four people had died, which was different from what the local authorities said.
The Russian Telegram feed Baza says that one of the dead is a child.
Hurghada is in Egypt’s Red Sea governorate and is a famous tourist spot for many Europeans. In 2022 alone, over four million people went there. A lot of people came to the area’s spas and hotels. The biggest group, with 1.158 million people, was German tourists. There were also tourists from Russia, the Czech Republic, and Poland who stood out.
Even though it’s very popular, the UK government warned people in February not to go on private diving vacations in the Red Sea because of 16 accidents in the last five years. The Marine Accident Investigation Branch said that three dive boats had gone missing in the past 21 months, killing several people, some of whom were from the UK.
Because of this, the UK government told people who want to take these vacations to only book them through “reputable vendors who can provide assurance about the safety standards applicable to the dive boat.” Furthermore, they said that customers should ask the crew for a full safety training when they got on board.
