“I’m Lucky To Be Here”: Gordon Ramsay Shares Life Lesson After Harrowing Accident
Following a horrific tragedy, Gordon Ramsay disclosed that he is “bruised up” and felt compelled to communicate a very significant message with his audience.
Messages wishing him a swift recovery swamped his comments section from celebrities and well-wishers, including his daughter Holly.
The 57-year-old chef with a Michelin star shared on Instagram the terrifying bicycle accident he experienced while visiting Connecticut. He underlined throughout his account of the incident how vital his helmet was to keeping him alive.
“With #FathersDay tomorrow I have very important message for all the dads out there… WEAR A HELMET! This week I had a really bad accident while riding my bike in Connecticut,” he captioned the video.
The Scottish celebrity, who was raised in England, paused the camera to show off the purple bruises on his torso by lifting his chef’s whites.
He remarked in the video, “You know how much I love cycling and triathlons and Ironman [races] etc and this week, unfortunately, I had a really bad accident and it really shook me and honestly I’m lucky to be here.”
In the video, the well-known chef disclosed to his viewers that he had bruises rather than any broken bones.
“Those incredible trauma surgeons, doctors, nurses in the hospitals looked after me this week, they were amazing but honestly, you’ve got to wear helmets,” he continued.
“I don’t care how short the journey is. I don’t care … these helmets cost money, but they’re crucial, even with a kid’s short journey, they’ve got to wear a helmet,” he added.
I’m fortunate to be standing here right now. I’m hurting. This week has not been kind. He continued, “And I’m sort of getting through it.”
The Michelin-starred chef stated, “Now, I’m lucky to be standing here. I’m in pain. It’s been a brutal week. And I’m sort of getting through it.”
The Hell’s Kitchen actor said he is “doing ok” and that riding his bike didn’t break any bones. Despite not having any serious wounds, he captioned the photo, saying, “I am a bit bruised up looking like a purple potato.”
He also took a moment to express his gratitude to the medical personnel who treated him following the collision.
“I’m thankful for all the doctors, nurses and staff at Lawerence + Memorial Hospital in New London who looked after me and checked me out, but most thankful for my helmet that saved my life. Have a great Father’s Day and be safe Gx,” he wrote.
Holly, Gordon’s 24-year-old daughter, said, “Love you so much xx,” in a comment on his post.
“Glad you’re okay! Thank God for that helmet,” said talk show host Dr. Phil.
