9 Signs Indicating That You Have Found the One That Completes You

Written 2400 years ago, the crazy-wild philosophical novella we know today as Plato’s Symposium, contains the first theory about the notion of “soulmates”. Aristophanes, the playwright famous for comedies like Lysistrata, Frogs and Birds, appears as a character in this work of art.

He speaks how, a long time ago, humanity existed in a more holistic and complete form: with two heads and four arms, one half female and the other male. As a result, they embodied rationality and imagination in equal proportions. With this combined strength however, humanity threatened the gods.

And like all Greek legends, the Gods destroyed them. They split them into their male and female halves and doomed them to search for the other halves of their souls until they found them.

As a result, when you find yours, you feel so complete.

There is also a church in Loire-Atlantique, France, dedicated to Saint Guignolé, where females go and pray that they find their soulmates.

Despite all this hoopla about it, do they really exist? Do you really meet someone so perfect that it feels like you found the piece missing from your heart?

These 9 things will make you say “yes”.

1. It wouldn’t be an immediate thing

Unlike all the flings you have had, this won’t be immediate, hot and steamy. It won’t be like one of your infatuations. And consequently, the love will be deeper and the bond will be stronger. You will know your partner better and he/she will know you better. There is no shame in familiarity; it only breeds comfort.

2. There is telepathy

When you need him/her, they are magically there in some form: even if they can’t be, you’ll get a call or a text or something asking you if you are okay. Words aren’t needed all the time.

3. Non-Verbal communication

Eyes speak a language and you two are fluent. You two can be in opposite corners of the room and still be with each other.

This following monologue from Frances Ha will illustrate my point better:

“It’s that thing when you’re with someone and you love them and they know it and they love you and you know it but it’s a party and you’re both talking to other people and you’re laughing and shining and you look across the room and catch each other’s eyes. But not because you’re possessive, or it’s precisely sexual, but because that is your person in this life and it’s funny and sad but only because this life will end and it’s this secret world that exists right there. In public. Unnoticed. That no one else knows about. It’s sort of like how they say that other dimensions exist all around us but we don’t have the ability to perceive them. That’s what I want out of a relationship. Or just life, I guess.”

4. The pieces will fit

You start understanding that you went through all those meaningless flings to get here, because now it feels like a reward after years of toil. You two fit just perfect and it has never felt like this before with anyone. As if you two are made for each other.

5. It is not really easy

Because love isn’t supposed to be easy. It’s a game and a tough one at that. But you two are willing to do the hard work for each other.

6. Chemistry

There is magic in the bedroom. You two get each other’s cues perfectly and the sex is as natural and karmic as it gets. And not only in the bedroom, you two feel so strong for each other, stronger than you have ever felt for anyone before.

7. You are at peace with each other’s flaws

As a matter of fact, you understand now that you two were meant to be together because you two fit like a puzzle right at the torn seams. You two were meant to be together because “your crazy matches their crazy”.

8. It is effortless

Life feels light and all the clouds part and sunshine comes in. You feel at peace and calm and efficient at living.

9. Fights

Fights happen, but you never even think about the morning after. You wake up grateful for the person asleep beside you in bed.
