A Man Took This Video Of A Crazy Roller Coaster Drive, But When He Zoomed In He Froze
Over 350,000 people have viewed Jeremy’s video.
He said on Facebook: “I hope they shut this ride down after I reported this video at guest services. It moves two to four feet.
“It was still running when we left. [We] got confirmation they shut it down for investigation.”
Riders whip past the ride’s swaying support structure, seemingly oblivious to the impending danger.
One concerned viewer said Jeremy had saved “some lives” by filming the incident because of the moving structure.
A Carowinds representative said the attraction, which cost $30 million (£23.6 million), would be closed for safety inspections.
Carowinds has stated that Fury 325 is inspected daily, but has been silent on whether or not the crack was detected in the days leading up to the ride’s closure.
“Carowinds closed Fury 325 after park personnel became aware of a crack at the top of a steel support pillar,” the spokesperson said in a statement.
“The park’s maintenance team is conducting a thorough inspection and the ride will remain closed until repairs have been completed.
“Safety is our top priority and we appreciate the patience and understanding of our valued guests during this process. As part of our comprehensive safety protocols, all rides, including Fury 325, undergo daily inspections to ensure their proper functioning and structural integrity.”
According to the Charlotte Observer, two park-goers notified authorities about the fissure.
On Monday (July 3), inspectors from the Elevator and Amusement Device Bureau of the North Carolina Department of Labor will take a look at the ride.
