Scientists Say The ‘Soul’ Does Not Die, It ‘Goes Back To The Universe’
The topic, “What happens to us after we die?” has fascinated humanity from the dawn of time.
The Soul Doesn’t Die When Our Bodies Do
Two researchers have concluded that while our physical bodies perish, our awareness, or soul, continues to exist even after we do.
They think this is possible thanks to quantum mechanics. Quantum mechanics is the branch of physics concerned with the study of subatomic particle behavior.
It takes into account the characteristics of molecules and atoms, as well as their constituents. (2) This includes:
- Neurons
- Electrons
- Protons
- Quarks
- Gluons
- Other esoteric particles
Stuart Hameroff and Sir Roger Penrose, two prominent scientists, have argued that consciousness is merely information stored at the quantum level. (1)
Orchestrated Objective Reduction
They call their method of information storing Orchestrated Objective Reduction (Orch-OR). Microtubules, which are made of proteins, are a structural component of human cells and are responsible for transporting quantum information. (1, 3)
“Let’s say the heart stops beating, the blood stops flowing; the micro-tubules lose their quantum state,” explains Dr. Hameroff. “The quantum information within the micro-tubules is not destroyed, it can’t be destroyed, and it just distributes and dissipates to the universe at large.” (1)
The information, he claims, simply returns to the microtubules, and the patient regains consciousness after resuscitation. The term for this is a “near-death experience.” However, if the patient passes away, their soul could live on after death. (1)
Our Physical Universe Is Just Our Perception
The Max Planck Institute for Physics in Munich has found evidence for an indefinite afterlife. Some people believe that after death, our souls enter an infinite beyond and that the world we know is really an illusion. (1)
“What we consider the here and now, this world, it is actually just the material level that is comprehensible,” explains Dr. Hans-Peter Durr from the institute. “The beyond is an infinite reality that is much bigger.” (1)
Consciousness, according to the work of Hameroff and Penrose, arises from microtubule vibrations on a more fundamental level.
