10-Year-Old Wows With National Anthem, Brings Tears To Grown Men
As soon as 12-year-old Jadon Perez starts talking, everyone pays attention.
The 10-year-old boy’s touching performance of “The Star-Spangled Banner” moved an audience to tears; his faultless vocals have since gone viral.
Fans say his amazing vocal range gives them “shivers,” and he’s already delighting audiences online.
Two years ago, at the Arians Family Foundation Celebrity Golf Classic, 10-year-old Jadon Perez of Florida astonished the audience with a faultless rendition of “The Star-Spangled Banner.”
He even stole the spotlight from the celebrity golfers.
The announcer introduced the young boy to the crowds on the green and shared an inspiring story about Jadon’s voice.
“I have to tell you, some of the guys who know me a little bit…we work on the TV show, The Voice on NBC, and, I want him to come try out for The Voice, that’s how good this little boy is,” the announcer said, describing the young man’s talent.
Despite starting to sing “The Muffin Man” to his family when he was just a baby, Jadon has come a long way since then, honing his clear, crisp voice.
The perpetually musical youngster told WFLA, a local news station, that he “got in trouble” in kindergarten for singing.
“I was singing in class and then the teacher told me to stop singing and I started humming.”
According to his dad, Christian Perez, “He’s always singing on his iPad, constantly. Singing when he’s doing homework, singing in the car, singing in the pool.”
His father says he discovered his son has a talent in 2018.
“That tenderness [in his voice], like woah,” Perez said.
The organizers of the celebrity golf classic contacted Jadon after Perez shared the video of him singing and requested that he perform.
After admitting that he was nervous for Jadon, who had never given a public performance before, Perez adds with a tear in his eye, “to see him face his fears… was pretty cool.”
The highlight for the 10-year-old was finally getting to meet wide receiver Mike Evans, his favorite player on the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, who happened to be attending the charity event.
Plus, his music is highly shared on social media, which is great for his followers.
One user from England writes, “I get shivers everytime I hear that Jadon !!” A second netizen shares, “this will be who my kids will be listening to on the radio watching win Grammys! Amazing.”
Still another says, “He’s better than Beiber was at that age.” Many people will recall that Justin Bieber, then 13 years old, got his start in 2007 when a former record label executive found a YouTube video of him performing.
The young man performed as the opening act for the Tampa Bay Lightning and the Miami Heat in 2022, but he hasn’t yet applied for a spot on The Voice.
