Terrifying But Also Cute Moment When a Wild Brown Bear Sits Down Next to a Photographer

Wildlife photography can be really peaceful. One moment you’re sitting in the wilderness, gazing upon the wonder of nature, enjoying the quiet, the next moment a wild brown bear sits down next to you to relax for a moment, and this is exactly what happened to this photographer!

As well as requiring photography skills, wildlife photographers may need field craft skills. For example, some animals are difficult to approach and thus a knowledge of the animal’s behavior is needed in order to be able to predict its actions. Photographing some species may require stalking skills or the use of a hide/blind for concealment.

Bear sits next to a guy

Believe it or not (and we have a video bellow to prove that) while he was taking photos, photographer Drew Hammond had a visit from a large wild brown bear who approached and sat beside him.

It seems like the bear wanted to enjoy the beautiful day, and the scene is both adorable and scary as hell.

Drew was capturing the bears while they were catching salmon in Alaska, when all of a sudden this big bear approached and sat next to him.

As a spectator behind the screen, I feel like hugging that adorable cute bear. Just look at the way he comes and sits, filled with elegance and peace! But if I was really on there instead of Drew, I’d probably have a mini-heart attack and run away like crazy.

When the bear stands up and goes behind the photographer, you can feel the tension for a moment. Still, Hammond managed to react calmly and the bear just left. When he turns the camera around, you can see just how many bears there were at the moment, so I’m not surprised one came up to check out what was going on.

The video was posted quite a long time ago by jprocdaddy, and the credits are given to Drew Hammond. It’s quite old, but it seems to be making its rounds again.

By searching everywhere, I wasn’t able to figure out which of the Drew Hammonds out there is the photographer behind the video, because Google refers several different people.

But whoever he is: my hat’s off to you for having balls of steel and calmness of a zen warrior.
