Austin also broke the heartbreaking news in a somber video on TikTok. “Our beautiful girl passed [away on] October 27 at 1:27 a.m., holding my hand […] Her room was surrounded by the love and compassion of our entire family,” he said.

According to Austin’s ode to his wife, Kaelin was the constant in his life and the one who gave his existence purpose. He thought of their relationship as something unique and dramatic, the kind of love that elevated even the most mundane days to the level of the spectacular.

Austin Reflects on His Wife’s Fight
Austin, meanwhile, talked about his wife’s resilience during her sickness in the TikTok video. He described how receiving a diagnosis had rocked their world, but it also made Kaelin’s unwavering determination clear. According to Austin, she kept battling until the very end, when her body was unable to withstand the effects of the illness, as she had vowed. Kaelin had to deal with a heartbreaking discovery just months before she passed away.
Kaelin received the devastating diagnosis of cholangiocarcinoma, a rare and rapidly spreading bile duct cancer, when she was just 28 years old. According to the Mayo Clinic, the condition primarily affects adults over 50 and starts in the thin tubes that transport bile from the liver to the small intestine. Treatment is rarely successful, and it is frequently identified until after it has advanced.

In a profoundly personal YouTube video, Kaelin opened up about her diagnosis. “Recently, I was diagnosed with a very rare form of cancer called cholangiocarcinoma. My name is Kae, and my goal in creating this video is to share my story and maybe potentially help others in the future,” she revealed, adding that she had been misdiagnosed twice before the cancer was discovered.
With unvarnished, heartfelt TikTok posts, Kaelin kept her fans updated, showcasing her amazing fortitude and optimism in the face of overwhelming obstacles. She revealed on October 12 that although her MRI revealed no obstruction, the tumor in her liver had gotten larger.
Five days later, on October 17, she shared yet another heartfelt update from hospice care, outlining the somber reasoning for the transfer:
“So they just moved me into my new hospice room […] My hospital doesn’t have an outpatient to palliative care to hospice. It’s either outpatient, ER, or then you go to hospice. So ultimately, I decided to choose hospice just because the hospital is right next door, and if there was an emergency, then I would be able to just go straight to the ER.”
Tearing up, she explained that her body was still recuperating from everything that had been happening, adding, “The only thing that’s scaring me is that I had to sign a DNR to get here. So, I did sign a DNR in my 20s.”

Kaelin started a GoFundMe account on October 19. She talked candidly about the emotional burden that came with the diagnosis and how her life had changed significantly since getting it in her post.
She also discussed the mounting cost of treatment in the fundraising “Help Us Through This Fight,” mentioning that her husband had taken on two jobs to cover the medical bills. Her message conveyed a gentle resolve in spite of the uncertainties, emphasizing love, optimism, and living in the moment.

On October 23, Kaelin shared what would become her final TikTok post, offering a calm and composed update despite her declining health. “I’m still in the hospital and I still am not good enough to qualify for chemo at the moment,” she said. “They are moving me to another hospice center […] That’s not that much of a big deal,” she concluded.
