Resurfaced Video Shows Kevin Bacon And His Wife Kyra Sedgwick Finding Out Shocking Truth About Their Relationship
Technically speaking, Kyra Sedgwick and Kevin Bacon, who have been married for almost 36 years, are cousins.
The pair discovered they are related on the PBS series Finding Your Roots, which explores the ancestry of celebrities.
While the news that Kevin is Kyra’s ninth cousin once removed was somewhat unexpected, what truly stuck out was Kyra’s response to it.
Even though the program aired in 2013, Kyra’s reaction reappeared this year. Kyra remarked, “See,” when host Henry Louis Gates Jr. informed her that her spouse is her cousin. “I knew it! I knew it! I knew it! I knew it! I knew it!”
After saying she was concerned the DNA test might reveal her and her spouse were connected, she experienced this reaction. She was accurate.
Later on, Kyra said that she was not surprised by the revelation.
At the 2017 Television Critics Association summer press tour, she stated, “I figured I was going to be related to Kevin Bacon — I mean, most white people are related, ultimately,” according to Observer.
“I wasn’t surprised, honestly. Frankly, I figured that was part the reason that they wanted to do both of us. I had to act surprised,” she said at the time.
Sosie, 32, and Travis, 35, are the two adult children that Kyra and Kevin have together. The pair got together in 1987 while working on the Lemon Sky film set.
Kevin told People in 2023 that he felt Kyra “was amazing” when he first met her, but Kyra wasn’t as impressed at first. But in the end, she consented to go on a date with Kevin, and everything went quite well.
When speaking with People, Kyra recalled the good vibes she experienced during their first date.
She recalled thinking to the outlet, “I feel like home,” when she woke up. “I realized, ‘Oh, that was him.‘”
Since then, they’ve “always been each other’s biggest support and fans,” they said to the site.
Kevin shared a shirtless “thirst trap” picture on Instagram on Monday, July 8, 2024, his 66th birthday, captioning it, “This is 66. 🎂.”
“Not too shabby! ❤️,” Kyra remarked.
