Skyscraper Under Construction Collapses Like House Of Cards After A Massive 7.7 Magnitude Earthquake In Myanmar

A huge 7.7-magnitude earthquake hit Myanmar, causing a skyscraper that was being built in Bangkok, Thailand, to fall down. Two people are definitely dead and many others are missing.

Even though the worst part of the earthquake happened in Myanmar, tremors were felt in the surrounding area. According to ABC, buildings in the capital of Thailand were evacuated because they were shaking from the impact.

One tower with a pool on top was shaking so much, the BBC showed, that the water started to fall off the side of the building.

One building that came down completely was a skyscraper that was still being built. Video taken by onlookers shows that the building fell apart in a matter of seconds.

People were running away from the building site before the skyscraper came down. It turned the area into a pile of rubble and dust clouds that people on the ground tried to avoid.

The Associated Press reported that Bangkok police confirmed that the skyscraper had fallen. They said that cops were on their way to the scene near the city’s Chatuchak Market.

The police also said they didn’t know how many people were working on the building site when it fell down.

The emergency services said that two people were found dead and many others were missing. Seven people were found living in the rubble of the building that had collapsed.

Twenty-seven million people live in Bangkok. A lot of them live in tall buildings like the one that fell.

At about 1:30 p.m. local time today (March 28), the big earthquake hit Bangkok. Building alarms went off, and people were forced to leave their homes and go out into the streets.

Thai officials in charge of disaster prevention said that the earthquake in Myanmar had an impact on almost every part of the country.

There were fewer reports of damage in Myanmar because the country is in the middle of a civil war. However, there were reports that the Ava Bridge fell because of damage from the earthquake.

There was damage to some homes and holy buildings in Naypyitaw, the capital of Myanmar.

The US Geological Survey and Germany’s GFZ center for geosciences say that the heart of the 7.7-magnitude earthquake was 6.2 miles below the surface in central Myanmar.

There was a second quake 12 minutes after the first one. It was measured at 6.4 on the Richter scale by experts.

The BBC says that while Myanmar has a lot of earthquakes, Thailand doesn’t have many. In fact, most of the earthquakes that Thailand feels come from Myanmar.

In order to avoid damage from strong earthquakes, their houses are not built to last.
