Second Child Dies Days After Woman Allegedly Sent Poisoned Easter Eggs to Ex’s Family in Revenge Plot
Days after the death of her seven-year-old brother, a 13-year-old girl died when a woman allegedly sent “poisoned Easter eggs” as “revenge” against her ex-boyfriend.
Mirian Lira, from Brazil, allegedly received chocolate Easter eggs from a woman named Jordélia Pereira Barbosa, which had a note attached that read: “With love, to Mirian Lira. Happy Easter.”
Police claim that after she gave the chocolate to her two kids, her seven-year-old son Luis became “severely ill” as a result of eating it.
When Luis was discovered unconscious, his father Rafael tried his best to administer cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), but the tiny child went into cardiac arrest and passed away last Thursday, April 17.
Evelyn Silva, Lira’s 13-year-old daughter, was reportedly killed after she and her mother were taken to the hospital in severe condition.
According to the Metro, health officials have verified that the teen’s death was brought on by a vascular shock connected to multiple organ failure.
“Unfortunately, the clinical condition showed serious and rapid deterioration without responding to treatment,” according to the hospital.
Although Lira’s status is thought to be stable, she is still in the hospital at this time.

Barbosa allegedly poisoned the chocolate and sent it to Lira, who is seeing Barbosa’s ex-boyfriend, which led to her arrest on April 21.
While riding a bus home in Santa Inês, she was apprehended by police, who found that she had a shopping ticket proving she had bought the eggs.
CCTV footage appears to show Barbosa wearing a black wig when purchasing the chocolate, and she was also found in possession of two wigs, scissors, cards, a saw knife, and other unidentified items in addition to the receipt.
Barbosa acknowledged purchasing the eggs in the lead-up to Easter when questioned by police, but she insisted she did not poison them.
Additionally, according to authorities, Barbosa had already tried this.
According to Imperatriz, Barbosa reportedly went to Lira’s place of employment to give chocolate samples to staff members, but she was denied access. She then proceeded to the parking lot to distribute the samples.
As per Brazilian news outlet G, Maurício Martins, Maranhão’s Department of Security Secretary, said: “The evidence suggests that the crime was motivated by revenge, by jealousy, given that the author’s ex-husband is the current partner or boyfriend of the victim, who was poisoned along with her two children.”
