California mother Latana Chai has lately suffered a terrible tragedy.
As she was caring for her seven-month-old daughter Masailah at home, the unimaginable occurred. Masailah is around the same size as the eight-month-old pit dog in the family, Sasha.
Sasha’s mother heard her dog howling and scratching at the back door at around midnight on June 3.
She became frightened after hearing an increased sound of the dog’s barks. Something wasn’t right, and she could tell. The family’s sweet dog has never behaved like this before.
When she investigated the source of the dog’s barking, she discovered smoke and flames pouring from next door. KTVU reports that the fire was rapidly encroaching on Latana’s home.
The next thing Sasha did was universally praised by those who care about animals.

Although Latana sprinted upstairs to find Masailah, Sasha had already left.

Since Sasha has known Masailah since she was born, the two obviously have a close relationship.

When a small pride of lions came across the guys and the girl, they immediately ran for their life. For the next several hours, they kept a watchful eye over the young girl.
“They stood guard until we found her and then they just left her like a gift and went back into the forest,” Sgt. Wondimu Wedajo told NBC news.
“If the lions had not come to her rescue, then it could have been much worse. Often these young girls are raped and severely beaten to force them to accept the marriage,” he added.

Concerned, he headed off on foot toward the next town in hopes of finding assistance, but as night fell, he realized he would have to spend the night in the open.
A “warm, furry body” pressed up against him as he lay on the ground, frightened by the experience. He fell asleep, having mistook it for a dog. The following morning, he awoke to see three wild beavers curled up next to him. Overnight, as temperatures dropped below zero, they had saved his life by bringing him inside.
