Heartbroken Family Reveals Father’s Last Act Before Tragic Shark Fatality In The Mediterranean

In a desperate attempt to save his life, the family of a father of four killed in an Israeli shark attack stated he tried to bat the monster away.

Barak Tzach vanished beneath the waves during the fatal event on Monday, April 21, at Hadera’s Olga Beach in front of frightened beachgoers.

The father, who was in his 40s, was swimming in the sea near the largest power plant in the nation when he was hit by the shark, as shown in the horrifying video.

After an extensive search for Tzach off the Mediterranean coast, teams on Tuesday evening, April 22, found what they believe to be his remains.

After forensic analysis in Tel Aviv, we determined they belong to Tzach.

Police said the search would continue ‘to locate new findings’ in response to the development, Israel National News reported.

“We express our sincere condolences to the family who was informed of the results,” a statement from the force said. “We will accompany them throughout the complex process.”

Deputy Fire Chief Doron Almashali added, “After a day and a half of intensive effort, we have found what appears to be part of the missing person.”

“Naturally, these findings must undergo thorough examinations. We conducted our search pattern based on careful analysis of underwater currents, and it was precisely in that area where the remains were discovered.”

According to reports, Tzach, who is supposedly from the city of Petach Tikva, was on his way home from work when he unintentionally stopped at Olga Beach to swim in the ocean.

Since then, his family has addressed the rumors surrounding his death. According to a Facebook post shared by his wife Sarit Tzach, he entered the sea wearing a mask, fins, a snorkel, and a GoPro camera.

She maintained that he didn’t enter with any bait or fish, saying Tzach had planned to take pictures of the local sharks.

Just before it launched its vicious attack on the father, observers spotted the aquatic predator swimming dangerously close to children paddling in the shallows.

“He went into the water to dive and photograph sharks, not to feed them or play with them,” Sarit said, according to local media. “In a conversation I had with a fisherman who witnessed the incident, I was told that he swam alongside the shark and later moved a little further out.”

“He photographed the sharks from a distance, but did not touch them or feed them.”

Then, Tzach’s wife disclosed that he had made a valiant effort to stop the shark from attacking, but it had been ineffective.

“When they started getting too close to him, he used the stick of the GoPro camera to gently push them away,” said Sarit.

The father, who ‘liked the sea and environment,’ has been remembered by the family, who have asked people to refrain from spreading incorrect or unsubstantiated information’ regarding his passing.

‘I’m bitten, I’m bitten,’ the swimmer cried out, according to witnesses, before he was pulled beneath the waves.

According to accounts, it is the fourth shark attack in Israel’s history.

The warm water and fish that are transported there by a local stream are known to draw sandbar and dusky sharks to the region around Olga Beach.

The Israel Nature and Parks Authority shared a statement in the wake of the incident saying, “The Authority reiterates its warning against interacting with sharks and once again calls on the public to avoid approaching them, as they are protected animals.”
