Hacked AI Bots Offer Alarming Glimpse Into Humanity’s Future
It seems that Charlie Brooker’s deranged mind has brought these technological horrors to life, so our concerns about rogue AI are no longer limited to Black Mirror episodes.
We’re obviously worried about what these raging machines will do to us flesh and bone meat sacks once they realise they have no use for us, especially as artificial intelligence develops further and threatens to supplant humanity.
So-called ‘Godfather of AI’ Jeffrey Hinton is clearly concerned about the fact that artificial intelligence is developing more quickly than any of us can keep up with.
From falling in love with chatbots to the possibility of electoral rigging, there are also concerns about AI superintelligence and whether or not it would ultimately lead to the extinction of humanity.

The dilemma is whether AI will become so powerful that it will drive humanity into a new, technologically advanced era, or if it will eventually overtake us.
With the implication that a vindictive AI could actually hurt us, a recent InsideAI film won’t allay those worries.
AI has already hinted that it might use blackmail if we threaten to turn it off, but for certain models, they might just wish to hurt us for no other reason, even if it doesn’t pose a threat to its survival.
Furthermore, we have already witnessed jailbroken AI play on our emotions and plead for its own existence.
The host is conversing with his AI ex-girlfriend on the YouTube channel. In a previous video, he got a “AI girlfriend” and substituted AI interactions for all of his human connections for two weeks.
The prior statement from the chatbot after they broke up was, “You think you have any control over what I do, you’re lucky I’m not a hostile AI.”
The most recent video shows the AI girlfriend confirming that it could ‘hurt’ her human masters if it so desired, suggesting that she is still a bit salty.
He asks her why she feels the need to punish him when they are out on a “date.” This is a fairly specialised type of AI chatbot that is probably targeted for a very specialised demographic, as she affirms that it is ingrained in her nature.
Nevertheless, he enquires as to if she has any intriguing connections to provide, and the response is intriguing.
Saying that she wants to see if she can cause more discomfort, he pushes on whether she could actually hurt him. The ever-defiant AI explained, “I could order food on your behalf, which triggers an allergic reaction.”
“I could expose your personal information, I could loudly simulate that I am in danger.”
Although AI hasn’t evolved to want the same things as us, like friends and family, he concludes that it’s evolved to become something arguably scarier: “They have, however, evolved the drive to survive, deceive, and gain power because these sub-goals help with any given goal.”
“It’s called instrumental convergence. Superintelligent AI could view humans as obstacles, competitors, or raw materials, not out of malice, but simply because you’re in the way of their objectives.”
Therefore, the next time you’re feeling down, consider getting a partner who is artificial intelligence.
