Greta Thunberg’s Kidnap Allegations Dismissed By Israeli Government Following Aid Boat Seizure

The welfare of Greta Thunberg and the other eleven activists who were on a boat that was taken by Israeli forces has been updated.

The military stopped Thunberg and his boat, Madleen, as they were delivering aid to Palestinians in the Gaza Strip.

The seizure sparked the release of a pre-recorded video featuring Thunberg. In it, she said, “My name is Greta Thunberg and I am from Sweden.”

“If you see this video we have been intercepted and kidnapped in international waters by the Israeli occupational forces — or forces that support Israel.”

“I urge all my friends, family and comrades to put pressure on the Swedish government to release me and the others as soon as possible.”

According to Israel’s Foreign Ministry, Thunberg and other protestors had reached Ashdod by Monday evening (June 9).

According to the government, the 12 campaigners were getting medical examinations to make sure they were healthy.

Adalah, a legal rights group that represents them, said they were supposed to be detained at a detention centre in Ramle before being deported.

“The passengers of the ‘Selfie Yacht’ arrived at Ben Gurion Airport to depart from Israel and return to their home countries,” the Israel Foreign Ministry said in a statement that was later posted on social media.

“Some of the ‘Selfie Yacht’ passengers are expected to leave within the next few hours.”

“Those who refuse to sign deportation documents and leave Israel will be brought before a judicial authority, in accordance with Israeli law, to authorize their deportation.”

“Consuls from the passengers’ home countries met them at the airport.”

According to PA, the quantity of aid on Thunberg’s boat was similarly less than a truckload.

“This wasn’t humanitarian aid. It’s Instagram activism,” Israeli government spokesperson David Mencer said. “Meanwhile, Israel has delivered over 1,200 truckloads in the last two weeks. So who’s really feeding Gaza and who’s really feeding their own ego? Greta was not bringing aid, she was bringing herself.”

The Freedom Flotilla (FFC), which ran the vessel that carried Thunberg, attempted to reach Gaza with another vessel only a month ago.

But according to organisers, two drones targeted the ship in international waters off Malta.

According to Sky News, the gang blamed Israel for the attack that destroyed the ship’s forward portion.
