Family Mourns Bobby Sherman’s Death; Wife Brigitte Reflects On His Legacy
Memories of music, love, and bravery have been left behind by the former teen idol who inspired generations.
On June 24, 2025, Bobby Sherman, the pop star of the 1960s who was well-known for his television appearances and number-one records, passed away at the age of 81. Actor John Stamos shared the news on Instagram in a private message from his wife, Brigitte Poublon.
In an interview with Fox News Digital in April, Poublon said that Sherman had been fighting stage 4 kidney cancer. She claimed that the cancer had “spread everywhere” at the time and that he was “at home with special care.”
In his last days, Sherman continued to be mentally active, according to Poublon, sharing peaceful activities with her like solving crossword puzzles. But when his body started to shut down, his situation quickly deteriorated.
He signed signatures until his health prevented him from doing so, even though he officially retired in 2024. He made the decision to spend his last moments at home with his family and their five pets.
Poublon paid tribute to him on social media, describing his last moments as quiet and private. “Bobby left this world holding my hand—just as he held up our life with love, courage, and unwavering grace through all 29 beautiful years of marriage,” she wrote in her letter.
She remembered that he listened to her read out fan letters with a familiar gleam in his eyes. His sense of humour persisted in spite of his illness; “He still found time to crack well-timed jokes,” she continued.
Sherman devoted his life to service after removing himself from the limelight. He joined the Los Angeles Police Department as a technical reserve officer and then became a paramedic. “He saved lives,” wrote Poublon. “He showed us what real heroism looks like—quiet, selfless, and deeply human.”
Poublon, their two sons, Christopher and Tyler, and six grandkids survive him. He “lived with integrity, gave without hesitation, and loved with his whole heart,” according to Poublon.
In her closing words, she thanked his fans: “Thank you to every fan who ever sang along, who ever wrote a letter, who ever sent love his way. He felt it. Rest gently, my love.”
Sherman soared to popularity with classics such as “Julie, Do Ya Love Me,” “Little Woman,” and “Easy Come, Easy Go.” He also achieved great fame for his performance in the television series “Here Come the Brides.”
As the world recalls Sherman’s legacy, Poublon moves forward — not only as his wife, but as the driving force behind a purpose they shared.
Long-time supporters know Poublon as Sherman’s second wife, and she has quietly established herself in the charity sector. She has long spearheaded nutrition and education initiatives for underprivileged kids, especially in Africa.

When she revealed Sherman’s cancer diagnosis, her public persona gained new significance. Fans who hadn’t seen the former teen idol in the public eye for years were taken aback by the social media post.
Poublon had already established himself as a dependable figure in Sherman’s life prior to it, serving as both his companion and the inspiration for his service legacy.
A Philanthropist Beyond the Spotlight
As the creator of the Brigitte & Bobby Sherman Children’s Foundation (BBSCF), Poublon has lived a life filled with purpose. Her public endeavours and daily acts are strongly aligned with the nonprofit’s objective, which has been to empower Ghanaian students via education, nutrition, and music since 2011.
Her passion for the Los Angeles Rams and Dodgers, her affection for animals, and her obvious commitment to her foundation’s mission are all evident on her social media accounts. It’s one of the areas where her public position and personal interests coincide.
Poublon participated in the foundation’s Community Food Project while visiting Ghana in February 2025, posting pictures of herself feeding youngsters. In one photo, she was squatting next to a group of uniformed kids at a rural school, distributing meals with the assistance of neighbourhood volunteers.
In March, Poublon released photographs from a school trip with foundation children and staff at Aqua Safari Resort in Ghana. The day included a boat ride and a mini-safari, indicating her continuous hands-on involvement in the foundation’s work.
Poublon also uses the foundation’s platform to share messages during holidays. She shared a Bible verse in an Easter post, highlighting her Christian faith and urging followers to “Rejoice in hope this Easter season.” The tone of the message was consistent with the foundation’s outreach, which was uplifting and centred on faith.
These peeks into her day-to-day activities demonstrate her deep commitment to the foundation’s mission as well as to creating the fulfilling life she and Sherman have chosen.
A Life Shared with Bobby Sherman
“Dashing, Daring, and Debonair: TV’s Top Male Icons from the 50s, 60s, and 70s,” written by Herbie J. Pilato, claims that Poublon wed Sherman in 2011. Even while their marriage has stayed largely hidden, there have been sporadic, frequently happy, and affectionate glances into their private lives.
Sherman and Poublon appeared together at a kitchen counter in a 2018 Facebook Live Q&A, interacting with a group of inquisitive kids.
Wearing a blouse with stripes of blue and white, Sherman responded to queries with his typical charm, revealing that Ricky Nelson was his favourite singer as a child and that he would rather eat a hamburger than anything else.
Poublon answered warmly and enthusiastically, dressed in a sleeveless dress in striking red, white, and black. She joyfully declared Christmas her favourite holiday when questioned, adding that, like other events like Halloween, she enjoys going all out with décor, gift-giving, and baking.
Poublon expressed her enthusiasm for a kind of musical reunion in 2019. In reference to Sherman’s early days of performing on “Shindig!” with the renowned band, she revealed that she and Sherman will be going to a Beach Boys show with John Stamos at the Segerstrom Centre for the Arts in Costa Mesa, California.
These open, light-hearted exchanges provide a unique window into a relationship based on respect and a common goal, a calm satisfaction that has characterised Sherman’s life recently.
The Actor’s Life Before He Met His Second Wife
Sherman was married to his first wife, Patti Carnel, prior to starting a life with Poublon. According to Pilato’s book, they married in 1971 and had two boys, Christopher and Tyler. As stated in Tiger Beat, the couple split in 1979. In one interview with the magazine, Carnel recalled how they initially met.
A friend introduced them, and as a way to break the ice, she feigned to be locked out of her apartment so she could ask to use Sherman’s phone. At the time, she didn’t recognise exactly who he was and thought he was the host of “Shindig!” – the music show where Sherman had played early in his career.
Their first date was simple: just driving around and talking. But that ease and humor defined their relationship. “He’s just so intelligent and has such a good sense of humor that you can’t help but like him,” Carnel said in the magazine.
She recalled him as considerate and deferential. He purchased her a dress after she admired one at a store, brought her home to meet his parents, and gave her gifts.
Sherman was portrayed in Carnel’s writings as romantic and genuine, traits that persisted throughout his life. He met someone in Poublon who shared his modest purpose and later-life dedication to service.
Bonding Over Their Love for Baseball
Poublon shows her passion for sports outside of her job in Ghana. She posted pictures from the stadium when she and Sherman celebrated together in team uniform after the Los Angeles Dodgers won the World Series in November 2024.
She referred to it as a “historic, epic win” and emphasised their longstanding support of the team’s charitable work. What appeared to be a happy moment in ordinary life would soon have unanticipated significance.
Grace in the Face of Adversity
Sherman withdrew from public life, while Poublon remained in the lead. She co-hosted BBSCF’s Giving Thanks Celebration with Sherman’s family over the 2024 Thanksgiving season, presenting a foundation video that gave viewers an inside look at their holiday meal.
In the video, Poublon described how she made a blend of American and African cuisine, such as a pumpkin dessert with chocolate ganache and cream cheese filling and spicy seasoned fowl. Although it wasn’t easy for him, Sherman assisted with the table layout by manually cutting tiny wooden decorations, she added.
She expressed gratitude for the food, the family together, and the daily benefits during a sincere prayer. Thanksgiving, she thought, was more than just a holiday; it was a way of thinking that she lived by every day.
The quality of their relationship was evident in these everyday activities, such as cooking, laughing, and expressing gratitude.
What They Built, What She Carries Forward
Sherman, 81, is no longer in the spotlight or on stage. However, with Poublon at his side, his legacy lives on in every meal prepared, every classroom attended, and every person impacted by the foundation they established together.
That mission is now carried out by Poublon. Sherman’s influence goes well beyond his music and film performances thanks to her strength, prominence, and steadfast dedication.
