Every Woman Should Know These Tricks With Baking Soda
Baking soda is an essential part of every household. From its utility in cooking, to washing dishes, to several other requirements, baking soda always takes up a major part of every kitchen.
Baking soda, or sodium bi carbonate as it is called, comes from a rock. This mineral isn’t exactly used in cooking as baking powder is, but it is still applied in cakes and pancakes, to give it the fluff. Baking soda also has a lot of usages in the kitchen or the washroom, and all those stains that are so hard to remove? That’s when baking soda comes to the rescue!
But what most people do not know is that baking soda can also be used for the human body. The presence of sodium and carbon in the right amounts in a baking soda can lead to several medicinal properties that help the human body. It is ascertained by several doctors and scientists that application of baking soda to several inflammations and infections, where, if used appropriately, would be immensely helpful for the body.
Baking soda might be dangerous when taken in large amounts, but it can also be a life saver when taken in small. Baking soda, or baking powder, which is a lot diluted, have its applications in medicines, and can also be taken raw.
Some of its uses are:
Helps In Kidney Diseases
Dr Julian Whitaker states that due to the alkaline nature of bicarbonate, its production in the body can actually help in buffering, or stopping harmful acids, and keeps our ph levels under control. It is necessary, because if the ph level increases, the body turns acidic, and the stomach walls melt down, leading to ulcers.
Also, researches at British universities have confirmed that the consumption of sodium bicarbonate is actually helpful, for it slows down the decaying of kidneys by two/third.
Indigestion and Heartburn
Whitaker proposes that since the consumption of over the counter-medicines like Alka-seltzer and Rolaids do help in reducing heartburn and indigestion, it would not go amiss to consume baking soda in its raw form, because that would be more effective. He draws this conclusion on the basis that these medicines already contain some form of baking soda in them. He asks people to boil two spoonfuls in water and drinking it after a meal.
Oral Cleanliness
Whitaker follows the conventional method of dental protection by asking people to not dip their brushes in baking soda, for it might corrode the enamel covering the teeth, which would lead to tooth decay. But he does ask us to brush as we have always done, and stick to the given proportion of baking soda in a toothpaste.

Mouthwash
Keep aside Listerine, and add baking soda instead. It might be troublesome applying baking soda to your toothbrush, but gurgling it every morning would be very helpful, for it would reach portions of the mouth that can’t be reached by several other toothbrushes.
Whitaker asks us to apply half a tbsp of baking soda to half a glass of warm water.
Soothes Sores That Are Cantankerous
In the 1970s, a mouth clinic saw the resurgence of several chronic ulcers that the patients were suffering from. The medical clinic was in Sunnybrook, California, and the diagnosis was tough including the treatment, for people had no clue as to how it occurred, or how it could be eradicated. But baking soda helped the condition of at least 70% of the patients when included in therapy.
Teeth Whitener
Medical science monitor declares the utility of a baking soda when used as a teeth whitener as a portrayal of its abrasive qualities. This allows it to break the molecules that lead to staining the teeth. It also contains harmful bacteria that can lead to tooth decay, which the baking soda destroys.
Deodorants
The University of Oklahoma states how baking soda can be a natural deodorant, for it removes the odor sweat is accompanied with, and also serves to make it less acidic. So the next time you decide to spend a lot of money on deodorants, buy baking soda instead.
Itchiness and Sunburns
WebMD states baking soda can alleviate the pain felt by itchiness or sunburns. There are medicines which do that, but why spend big bucks on something that you can make at home, by just adding baking soda to water, and making a paste.
