Close Friend Reveals Health Update About Shannen Doherty In Terminal Cancer Battle

Witnessing the cancer battle of a loved one is a harrowing experience, regardless of the outcome.

While the effects of cancer on the patient themselves are well-documented, the toll it takes on the patient’s loved ones is less generally discussed.

Most people are fortunate enough to have a supportive network of loved ones around them as they battle this devastating illness.

As difficult as life can be, having someone to lean on for strength and support can make all the difference.

An international outpouring of grief and sympathy was shown to 52-year-old actress Shannen Doherty in June, after she revealed that her stage four cancer had metastasized to her brain.

The actress from Beverly Hills, 90210 and Charmed was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2015, but following treatment, she is now in remission.

Doherty announced her stage four cancer diagnosis on Good Morning America in 2020, which was a tragic turn of events.

“It’s going to come out in a matter of days or a week that I’m stage four,” she said. “So my cancer came back and that’s why I’m here.”

Doherty said at the time, “I don’t think I’ve processed it. It’s a bitter pill to swallow in a lot of ways.” In many respects, it’s an unpleasant truth to face.

The actress kept her devastating diagnosis to herself while filming a relaunch of BH90210, and we can only imagine how tough that year must have been for her.

Her Beverly Hills, 90210 co-star Brian Austin Green was one of the few people she felt comfortable confiding in.

“I had moments of great anxiety where I thought, ‘I can’t really do this,’ and Brian was the one person who – of that group of people that knew – that I told, like, pretty quickly and said, ‘Here, this is what I’m dealing with’,” she explained.

“So prior to shooting he would always call me and say, ‘Listen, you know, whatever happens, I have your back.’ He would look at me and be like, ‘We got this, kiddo’…so Brian helped me through a lot.”

Now, Green has given an update on the condition of his close friend in an interview with the Herald Sun.

“We talk all the time,” he revealed. “She’s an incredibly tough person. If there’s anyone who could put up a real fight to cancer – she’s one of them.

“It’s not an easy situation, obviously, but I love her to death.

“And she’s making the absolute best of it.”

Doherty has earned a lot of respect for being so open and honest about her battle with cancer.

The actress has been very forthright with her audience, doing her best to keep them in the loop at all times.

Doherty explained the need for radiation therapy in a June 2018 video by saying, “On January 5th, my CT scan showed Mets in my brain.”

In yesterday’s video, we saw how the mask worn during brain radiation therapy is custom-fitted to the patient.

“The first round of radiation took place. My fear is obvious. I am extremely claustrophobic and there was a lot going on in my life.

“I am fortunate as I have great doctors like Dr Amin Mirahdi and the amazing techs at Cedar Sinai. But that fear… the turmoil… the timing of it all… this is what cancer can look like.”
