Allie Livingwater wrote a Facebook post on her wedding dress and the meaning it has for her and her groom. To demonstrate the garment’s form, she shared a photo of her grandmother and herself dressed in it side by side.
She said her wedding was one of the most memorable days of her life.
The fact that Allie has been raised by her grandmother from the time she was a newborn has created a unique relationship between them. After Allie’s grandmother’s 38-year marriage ended in divorce, she took in the family. Allie had never known her grandfather, but by donning her grandmother’s wedding gown she felt a stronger connection to him.
The thought that her dress will be worn again, and by Allie’s granddaughters no less, brought her to tears. She had decided it was useless and thrown it away.
