BREAKING NEWS: OceanGate Shares Devastating Update In the Search for the Titanic Submersible
OceanGate Expeditions has issued a statement four days after the first dive of the Titanic submarine.
Multiple news outlets have reported over the past few days that the submersible made its first drop toward the site of the Titanic’s wreck on Sunday morning.
There were five adventure-seekers on board the submersible.
One of the passengers, British billionaire Hamish Harding, admitted in text exchanges that he knew what he was getting himself into.

The 58-year-old billionaire emailed his pal, retired NASA astronaut Colonel Terry Virts, saying, “Hey, we’re headed out tomorrow, it looks good, the weather’s been bad so they’ve been waiting for this.”
Unfortunately, the submersible lost touch with the support ship after about 1 hour and 45 minutes into the first dive, and nobody has seen or heard from it since.
Because of its compact size, the submersible’s oxygen supply lasted for only about 96 hours.
It is assumed that the submarine ran out of oxygen around sunrise today. OceanGate now assumes that everyone inside perished a long time ago.
“We now believe that our CEO Stockton Rush, Shahzada Dawood and his son Suleman Dawood, Hamish Harding, and Paul-Henri Nargeolet, have sadly been lost,” OceanGate said in a statement.
“These men were true explorers who shared a distinct spirit of adventure, and a deep passion for exploring and protecting the world’s oceans. Our hearts are with these five souls and every member of their families during this tragic time. We grieve the loss of life and joy they brought to everyone they knew.”
The Coast Guard claims the submarine, dubbed Titan, “exploded on descent and debris fell to the seabed near the wreckage of the Titanic.”
The youngest passenger was Suleman Dawood. He was only 19 at the time.
This announcement follows rumors that the rescue effort had found a “debris field” during the course of its investigation. Later, CNN reported that the debris field was “assessed to be the external body of the submersible.”
It lay on the ocean floor roughly 500 meters from the Titanic’s forward bow.
