Apple Sends Critical Alert To 1.8 Billion Iphone Users Worldwide

If you are among the 1.8 billion individuals who own an iPhone worldwide, you may want to pay attention to the urgent warning that Apple has sent out to its consumers.

There is a widespread misperception that iPhones are “immune” to malware, however this isn’t true.

Apple reportedly discovered a serious security flaw that might let hackers access the private information of iPhone users, including messages, images, and app details.

Two Common Vulnerabilities and Exposures (CVEs), which are software flaws in the iPhone, provide a security risk since they can result in issues when a specially created image or video is opened.

An iPhone expects a file to adhere to specific guidelines when processing an image or video. A hacker could, however, produce a file that violates these guidelines and fools the iPhone into making a mistake.

Apple clarified that these’maliciously created’ files could cause an unexpected app crash, corrupt the phone’s memory, and provide a point of entry for hackers to access personal data.

Safe Data Storage stated to The Mirror, “If someone sends you a seemingly innocent image and your phone hasn’t been updated, it could silently wreak havoc or grant intruders access to your private file.”

The good news is that there is a rather easy solution to avoid this.

All iPhone owners are now being advised by Apple to install iOS 18.5, their most recent security update, which fixes a serious security flaw.

Anyone with an iPhone model XS or later can download the update, which was released on May 12 and adds improved checks to prevent malicious downloads from causing users any problems.

According to the tech giant, it deals with a vulnerability that involves “processing a maliciously crafted image [that] may lead to unexpected app termination or corrupt process memory.”

The business only needs to ensure that we all install it now.

“Apple acted fast, but users need to act, too. Updating your device is one of the most important things you can do to protect your private information,” the Safe Data Storage representative explained.

“Tell your parents, your grandparents, your neighbour – anyone with an iPhone. These updates aren’t optional anymore – they’re your first line of defence.”

“The longer someone delays updating, the longer they leave that door open.”

“And many people – especially grandparents or those less tech-savvy – don’t realise just how important these updates are.”
