A Pharmacist Identifies Two Silent Killer Warning Signs That You May See In Your Feet

When it comes to our health, several symptoms that we frequently ignore can be indicators that it’s time to see a physician.

How often do you pay attention to any changes that happen to your feet and toes?

I suppose we occasionally forget about this aspect of our bodies. These alterations, however, might reveal a lot about our general health.

Excilor advisor and pharmacist Noel Wicks told the Express about the warning indications our feet may have. Who knew that there were secrets about our wekk-being hidden inside our shoes and socks?

“We need to keep an eye on our foot health, including our toenails, because it can impact on our overall health and be a sign of [serious] health issues,” Wicks said.

She went on to say that because the blood veins that supply our feet with blood are so little and prone to blockage, they might occasionally feel chilly and numb.

Toenail changes may also be warning signs that we should schedule a visit with the doctor.

“Thickening and brittleness of the nails may also occur with heart disease,” the pharmacist said.

Peripheral vascular disease, or PAD, is brought on by blood vessel spasms, blockages, or narrowing.

As per NHS, “many people with PAD have no symptoms. However, some develop a painful ache in their legs when they walk, which usually disappears after a few minutes’ rest. The medical term for this is ‘intermittent claudication.”

“The pain can range from mild to severe and usually goes away after a few minutes when you rest your legs. Both legs are often affected at the same time, although the pain may be worse in one leg.”

We should also pay attention to other symptoms, such as burning, soreness, and tingling. Blisters or unhealing wounds, together with dry or cracked skin, can also reveal a lot.

Fungal infections and athlete’s foot can also be warning signs of something more serious happening with our body.

If you observe that your toenails are becoming more yellow, you should be aware that this could indicate diabetes or heart problems.

Make sure you get medical help as soon as you notice any changes to your body, not only your feet and toes.
