9 Differences Between Dating A Boy And Dating A Real Man

Two very strange species with very different approaches to a relationship: boy and a man. Let’s make it clear at the start – you don’t want to be stuck with a boy for the rest of your life.

Keeping that trigger in mind, here are 9 differences you might notice between being with a boy and being with a real man.

1. Attitude towards the relationship

Boys are masters of rhetoric. They will be verbally “smooth” and try to impress you with their words and demeanor. Men are Machiavellian, in positive ways. They will not JUST say things to impress you or make you feel wanted. They will follow them up with corresponding actions too.

2. In comparison with themselves

Boys will always try to put you down and feel better about themselves. Consequently they will be possessive about you.

Men would do the opposite. They will constantly inspire you to be better. Consequently they will be protective of you, but not possessive.

3. Relationship dialectics

There is a subliminal debate always going on in every relationship. Difference: Where a boy would feel threatened by your ideology, a man would take the opportunity to learn about the opposite polemic. Consequently where the natural assumption on the part of the boy is you being inferior, on the part of the man it is of you being an equal, if not better.

4. Notions of feminism

Sadly this is still a subject of debate. Feminism acknowledges the oppression that patriarchy has doled out in equally harrowing measures to both sexes. It seeks to put the sexes on equal footing. A boy does not understand this; he thinks feminists are ogresses who hate men and hate beauty products. Men understand feminism, and want it to succeed.

5. Money matters

Where a boy assumes naturally that he has to “provide for you” because he is a male, a man understands how relationships are based on equality and that means equality in monetary expenditure as well.

6. Second thoughts

A boy will have second thoughts about you every minute. The sentence playing inside his head would be “Is she hot enough for me?”.

A man is never shallow. When he sees that he finally has a healthy relationship, he cherishes it with all he has.

7. Admitting mistakes

Humans are not supposed to be correct all the time. It just doesn’t work that way. Every time he messes up (which is a lot), a boy will make up excuses and even try to blame things on you, if not others. A man would simply admit he made a mistake and try to not repeat it the next time around.

8. Long term plans

A boy doesn’t have them. His life is predicated on his basest and most immediate desires and wants. A man has long term plans that include having a happy life with you. And there is no pretence about it either.

9. Social approval

Tricky one. A boy wants a trophy more than a partner. His objective is to have a cool image of himself in front of his friends thanks to you and thanks to how “he conquered you.” A man values human beings and their personality over all other things. Yes, social approval is nice, but he can also live without it. After all, liking a person or not is contextual and subjective.

In Conclusion

Very simplistically speaking, a boy is a shallow animal, who is not mature enough to handle the emotional baggage that comes with a relationship. To him a relationship is nothing but a tick on the list of things to do (quite literally).

A man values that same emotional baggage because he understands that emotional bonds are longer lasting than ostensible physical beauty. He will value you and what you bring to his life.
