Customer Speaks Out On ‘Deceptive’ Trump-Branded Phone Purchase

One man was taken a back when he placed a preorder for the T1 Phone immediately after its announcement, suggesting that purchasing the Trump Organization’s new golden smartphone may be more difficult than anticipated.

The Trump family’s most recent commercial endeavour is an Android phone wrapped in gold that is said to compete with the iPhone and Samsung’s Galaxy devices, but if the purchasing process is any indication, you shouldn’t have high expectations.

Although it’s unknown how many of the device’s actual components are sourced and made in the United States, the T1 Phone, when paired with the $47.45/month Trump Mobile plan, advertises operations in the United States for anyone who wants to purchase “real American” goods.

One journalist discovered that would be the least of the problems while trying to pick up their own T1 Phone, despite the fact that the cost of the device and network plan has stunned many people on social media.

What happens when you pre-order the T1 Phone?

You’re going to have a rough time purchasing the new Trump phone if your experience is similar to that of Joseph Cox of 404 Media, who encountered numerous mistakes and even made the wrong payment.

“I tried to pre-order the phone and pay the $100 downpayment,” Cox explains, but “the website failed, went to an error page, and then charged my credit card the wrong amount of $64.70.”

Although the price was lower than the down payment, post-sale emails have not offered any indication that the phone is genuinely on its way.

“I received a confirmation email saying I’ll receive a confirmation when my order has been shipped,” Cox continued, “but I haven’t provided a shipping address or paid the $499 price tag.”

Additionally, he describes trying to enter his account on the Trump Mobile website and changing his password, but being unable to do so after encountering another error message.

“It is the worst experience I’ve ever faced buying a consumer electronic product and I have no idea whether or how I’ll receive the phone,” writes Cox, and regardless of your thoughts on the device or your adoration of the current president, there’s no way to defend this.

What are people saying about the Trump Phone?

It makes sense that many people have been shocked by Cox’s experience trying to purchase the T1 Phone, but some contend that this is typical of anything bearing the Trump name.

“What’s up? Got scammed by the president? Sounds ridiculous doesn’t it?” Writes on user on Reddit, with another adding, “To anyone stupid enough to buy this phone, at least use a credit card so you are protected.”

There are also many people who are worried about the device’s security, claiming that the government will collect and use your phone data.

Despite Donald Trump Jr.’s claim that the phone’s American manufacturing eliminates the possibility of a “backdoor made into the hardware that some of our adversaries may have installed in here,” prospective buyers who are worried about government surveillance are unimpressed.
