Trump Sparks Global Outrage With Plan To Rename Persian Gulf As ‘Arabian Gulf’
As the Commander-in-Chief continues to exert his influence, it appears that no nation is immune from being renamed. President Donald Trump is making increasingly contentious decisions in Washington.
Donald Trump’s second term appears to have been recognised for renaming locations on Google Maps, while his first term was known for controversial actions like his attempt to construct a wall across the Mexican border.
Even though only Americans will notice that the Gulf of Mexico is now referred to as the Gulf of America on map systems, the Gulf of Mexico remains a significant issue for Mexico. The name is still in use for the time being, even though Mexico’s president has criticised the action and the country has even sued America.
While the Great White North is safe for the time being, Trump appears to have his sights set on other parts of the world. There were even concerns that he was attempting to merge Canada with the United States.

The Guardian claims that during his next visit to Saudi Arabia, the president would declare that the Gulf of Persia will now be known as the Arabian Gulf or the Gulf of Arabia.
Iranian leaders are also indignant over the action, which comes at a difficult moment when negotiations over Iran’s nuclear program are still in progress.
“If Trump moves forward with the proposal, he would manage to unite all Iranians, whether pro- or anti-regime, against him, and that is a near impossible achievement,” one diplomat said in reference to the Gulf of Arabia designation.
Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi also chimed in about the ‘absurd’ rumor and said he hoped it was disinformation. According to Araghchi, the name of Middle East waterways did “not imply ownership by any particular nation, but rather reflects a shared respect for the collective heritage of humanity.”
He continued, “The name Persian Gulf, like many geographical designations, is deeply rooted in human history. Iran has never objected to the use of names such as the Sea of Oman, Indian Ocean, Arabian Sea or Red Sea.”
Araghchi said that politically motivated attempts to change the name of the Persian Gulf are “indicative of hostile intent toward Iran and its people, and are firmly condemned.”
describing it as “affront to all Iranians,” he said, “Any shortsighted step in this connection will have no validity or legal or geographical effect, it will only bring the wrath of all Iranians from all walks of life and political persuasion in Iran, the US and across the world.”
Iran has maintained its ties to the historic name that dates back to the 16th century, despite calls from several Arab countries for a change.
The Iranian government vowed to sue Google in 2012 for failing to include the Gulf of Persia on all of its maps, despite the fact that numerous Middle Eastern nations use both the Arabian Gulf and the Gulf of Arabia.
European diplomats have warned Iranian officials not to “lose it” over Trump’s warning as a deal between the US and Iran lingers over the nuclear program.
Vice President JD Vance spoke at the Munich Security Conference event in Washington, and seemed optimistic about the future as he cheered: “Our proposition is simple: we don’t care if people want nuclear power. They can have civil nuclear power. We don’t mind that. But you can’t have the kind of enrichment programme that allows you to get to a nuclear weapon and that’s where we draw the line.”
