Young Woman’s Shocking Cancer Diagnosis At 29 — The Subtle Symptom She Says You Should Never Ignore
On Reddit, a lady shared how receiving a cancer diagnosis shocked her and urged others to take physical changes seriously.
Numerous studies are being conducted to determine the reasons behind the apparent increase in cancer among young people in recent years.
While the most brilliant scientists are working to identify the cause and effect, some young people are dealing with the heartbreaking news that they have cancer.
This is the case with a 29-year-old lady who just announced she had been diagnosed with colon cancer and invited everyone on social media to ask her anything.
In a recent post on the ‘Ask me Anything’ Reddit thread, she stated: The incidence of colon cancer in young individuals is rising annually. I lead an active and healthy life. Last year, I worked out three to four times a week and ran a PR half marathon. Compared to people my age, I consume a reasonably healthy diet, but I’m not flawless.

“Tested, and I had no genetic predispositions. Found the tumor during a colonoscopy after suspecting UC (ulcerative colitis) or internal hemorrhoids.”
“Colon cancer has nearly identical symptoms to IBS, Crohn’s, and UC,” the anonymous woman said, thanking people who sent her well wishes and urging everyone to consult a healthcare provider if they have any questions.

Speaking about her symptoms, she highlighted that her stools became different, and said if any person notices any change in their toilet habits they should get tested. She commented, “Starting in December of last year I had dark blood and mucus in my stool, my stools were thinner than normal, and I was going number 2 multiple times a day when I was usually a one and done.”
“I saw my PCP in January and he referred me for a colonoscopy, but then my symptoms improved so I put it off because my deductible had reset and I didn’t feel like paying for it.”
“Finally scheduled it for early April, woke up from the colonoscopy to the doctor telling me they found a mass.”
The symptoms of colorectal cancer (of the colon or rectum) and what to watch for are described by the Centres for Disease Control and Prevention.
It read: “Colorectal polyps (abnormal growths in the colon or rectum that can turn into cancer if not removed) and colorectal cancer don’t always cause symptoms, especially at first.”
The symptoms include:
- A change in bowel habits.
- Blood in or on your stool (bowel movement).
- Diarrhea, constipation, or feeling that the bowel does not empty all the way.
- Abdominal pain, aches, or cramps that don’t go away.
- Weight loss and you don’t know why.
They also emphasise the importance of routine examinations, as people may not know that they have polyps or colorectal cancer.
