The Singer Is Cited By Users As “The Only Reason” They Are Watching The Super Bowl

On February 9, 2025, Super Bowl LIX will take place. A major star will perform, and a guest star will accompany them.

There is already a lot of excitement surrounding the guest star who will perform at the Super Bowl halftime show. Even others who aren’t huge football lovers are pledging to watch the singer’s eagerly awaited performance on the internet.

The NFL said that SZA, a singer-songwriter, will perform alongside Grammy-winning rapper Kenrick Lamar at the Super Bowl halftime show. A humorous video featuring SZA dousing Kendrick with a blue drink—reminiscent of the joyous splash a victorious team might give their coach following a crucial game—was shown with the announcement.

The amusing video was also shared by SZA, who wrote, “Taking the stage with @Kendricklamar! #AppleMusicHalftime #SBLIX.” On February 9, the pair will play in the Caesars Superdome in New Orleans.

Fans are excited to watch SZA take the big stage. One fan admitted, “Only watching the super bowl for sza [sic].” For some, the excitement is palpable, with one fan writing, “Probably only watching the Super Bowl to watch SZA perform.” “I’m super excited,” exclaimed another fan, showing just how much SZA’s performance is generating buzz.

A user who isn’t a football fan, playfully declared, “SZA BOWL! I don’t watch football but I will now! 😜.” “I just heard sza is performing at the super bowl…. I WILL BE WATCHING [sic],” said another excited fan.

Other fans are hoping for a miracle, “Omg, can’t wait. Now if you just so happen to have an extra pair of tickets… lol.” One fan joked about Kendrick Lamar’s collaboration, “Kendrick knew he didn’t have enough hits to do a Super Bowl performance; that’s why he brought along SZA. That was the smartest choice he could’ve made.”

SZA has been on a winning streak lately, with her album “SOS Deluxe: Lana” topping music charts. Her film, “One of Them Days,” featuring actress Keke Palmer, is also performing well. The singer, who has won the Grammy four times, has also received four nominations at the 2025 iHeartRadio Awards.

With two nominations for Best R&B Performance and Best R&B Song at the 2025 Grammys, the pop star—real name Solána Imani Rowe—now has 26 nominations overall.

SZA celebrated herself and her successes on Instagram, including her inclusion as a guest star in the Super Bowl halftime show, writing, “LIFE TOO SHORT TO PLAY SMALL AND NOT PRIORITIZE SELF LOVE AND SELF ACCEPTANCE! GOOD BAD AND OOGLY !!! AHHHH God is so good !! Yall are so good !! Sending love to everybuddy ❤️THANK YOU ❤️🫡🫶🏾🥲 [sic].”

Kendrick announced in September 2024 that he will be the main act during the halftime show before SZA’s announcement. Even though his followers would be watching from home, he urged them to dress to impress in a little video that was posted to YouTube.

The rapper, who has won 17 Grammys so far in his career, is excited to take on this coveted task. “Rap music is still the most impactful genre to date. And I’ll be there to remind the world why. They got the right one,” he wrote in a statement. Kendrick is also the first musician outside of classical and jazz to win a Pulitzer Prize for his 2017 album “DAMN.”

Seth Dudowsky, the NFL’s head of music, has faith in Kendrick’s extraordinary performance. “Few artists have impacted music and culture as profoundly as Kendrick Lamar,” stated the rapper. “Kendrick has consistently demonstrated his unique ability to resonate, redefine, and ultimately transform the core of hip-hop,” Seth continued.

“We’re excited to collaborate with Kendrick, Roc Nation, and Apple Music to deliver another unforgettable Halftime Show,” Seth said.

The Super Bowl pregame entertainment will happen before to the big show. Trombone Shorty and Lauren Daigle will perform “America the Beautiful,” Jon Batiste will play the National Anthem, and Ledisi will sing “Lift Every Voice and Sing.” It will also be a star-studded event.

Kendrick Lamar and SZA will be preparing for a Grand National Tour across the United States and Canada following the Super Bowl halftime event. Just eleven days after the release of Kendrick’s sixth studio album, “GNX,” the tour was revealed on December 3, 2024.

With two notable collaborations with SZA, “GNX” heightens the anticipation for their forthcoming joint tour, which will begin in Minneapolis on April 19 and conclude in Washington on June 18.

While some fans are eager to see two of the top teams compete in the Super Bowl, others are anticipating Kendrick and SZA’s appearance.

There are several methods to watch the sporting event if you can’t make it to Caesars Superdome, which is situated at 1500 Sugar Bowl Drive in New Orleans, Louisiana. National coverage will begin at 6:30 p.m. ET, and FOX will air it live. The NFL and Tubi channels will also stream the game for anyone with linked TVs.

The NFL app offers live streaming for individuals who only have a phone or tablet. WestwoodONE, SiriusXM, and NFL+ are available to fans that would rather listen to audio coverage.

Over 70 hours of live coverage will be available on the NFL Network throughout Super Bowl week. Its Instagram page states that the Kansas City Chiefs will play the Philadelphia Eagles in the first game.

In addition, the NFL released a comprehensive playoff schematic for 2024–2025 that included every team the Chiefs and Eagles defeated en route to Super Bowl LIX.

After playing the Washington Commanders in a National Football Conference (NFC) Championship Game on January 26, the Eagles secured their position in Super Bowl LIX. The Commanders were defeated by the opposition 55–23.

With Jalen Hurts throwing for one and scoring three touchdowns, the Eagles’ 55 points set a record for the NFC Championship game. In an Instagram post, the NFL named Hurts’ club the NFC Champions, writing, “Back on top of the NFC 🦅 #SBLIX.”

In contrast, the Chiefs defeated the Buffalo Bills 32-29 to win the American Football Conference (AFC). The squad will make it to the Super Bowl for the fifth time in six seasons.

The NFL shared an Instagram picture of the Chiefs to celebrate their win and qualification into the Super Bowl. The post was captioned, “For the 5th time in the last six years, the @chiefs are AFC Champions. #SBLIX.”

Fans worldwide are looking forward to an incredible game full of exhilarating moments and top-notch entertainment as the countdown to Super Bowl LIX continues. This year’s event promises to be an incredible celebration of football and culture, whether you’re watching from home or in person.
