Inside Their Tough Relationship: William and Kate Middleton Are “Not As Perfect As It Seems”
Like any normal relationship, Prince William and Kate Middleton have their ups and downs. Reports indicate that the couple parted ways in 2007 due to various reasons.
Kate was reportedly devastated by William’s actions. However, the two eventually reconciled and carried on together.
Today, thirteen years after their magnificent ceremony at Westminster Abbey, William and Kate have three children and a loving family.
Nevertheless, marriages are never without difficulties, and although many people think that there is nothing wrong with a future king and queen, this is untrue.
A royal specialist claims that the Prince and Princess of Wales have had marital difficulties. It’s not as flawless as one might believe right now.
William and Kate were married at London’s Westminster Abbey on April 29, 2011. However, it appeared that their romance was over just a few years prior, in 2007. Some sources even claimed that William and Kate had permanently split up.
When William and Kate broke up in 2007, word of their separation swiftly spread.
Prince William and Kate Middleton – rocky love story
According to some royal analysts, Prince William believed that the “fun” had vanished from his relationship with Kate, which is why he ended it. Kate, meanwhile, was reportedly left “desperately upset” since she had already imagined their future marriage.
William reportedly saw multiple other girls while out and about in London nightclubs shortly after the breakup.
Naturally, Kate was upset. Reports state that “harsh words” were exchanged because Kate felt that William’s actions had “humiliated” her. Additionally, she thought he was “cheapening her image.”
“It was the first such warning she had dished out over the course of their four-and-a-half-year relationship,” a report read, as quoted by Express.
“Kate had had enough, and words were exchanged. Kate told William that he was making her look bad, one of her friends explained. She has coped for years with girls flinging themselves at her boyfriend, and for a while, she found it humorous and even flattering.”
However, others contend that neither Kate Middleton nor William Middleton had total influence over their breakup. William’s stepmother, now Queen Camilla, was a major player, according to royal analyst Christopher Anderson, author of William and Kate: A Royal Love Story.
Anderson clarified that Camilla might have been a major contributing cause to the split in an interview with The Daily Beast.
“I was in London when the breakup [of William and Kate] occurred. I was shocked, completely stunned; everyone thought it was only a matter of time before William was going to ask Kate to marry him. And then people started telling me that Camilla was behind it,” Anderson said in 2016.
Kate Middleton realized “awful burden” before marrying William, expert says
Every now and then, rumors about what transpired between William and Kate in 2007 still surface. Judy Wade, a former royal writer for Hello! Magazine, revealed a new notion last year.
Wade claims that Kate began to understand the significant lifestyle shift that becoming a senior member of the Royal Family would require.
“She might have realized the awful burden she would have taken on. It’s a life sentence marrying a royal,” Wade said.
Kate was residing in London at the time, and William was in Dorset with the Household Cavalry. They consequently frequently spent time apart. William and Kate talked candidly about their 2007 breakup during their engagement interview.
“We did split up for a bit,” William admitted during the interview. “But that was just, we were both very young; it was at university; we were both finding ourselves and such, and being different characters and such.”
“I think I, at the time, wasn’t very happy about it, but actually, it made me a stronger person,” Kate added.
“You find out things about yourself that maybe you hadn’t realized. Or I think you can get quite consumed by a relationship when you’re younger. I really valued that time for me as well, although I didn’t think it at the time, looking back on it.”
Princess Kate and Prince William have come to represent the new monarchy. The Prince and Princess of Wales represent a new generation, even though King Charles has been credited with leading the charge to modernize the monarchy, for instance by reducing the number of working royals.
Reason behind Prince William and Kate Middleton ‘strong spark’
Kate has a history of dressing in both expensive designer labels and more reasonably priced ones, which has helped her become more approachable and, ultimately, more likeable and “common.” As a result, the monarchy benefits much from it since it humanizes her and may be viewed as progressive.
Even though Adelaide Cottage is a beautiful, spacious home, Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis are able to experience a “normal” existence because William and Kate have chosen to offer their kids as “normal childhood as possible.”
Marriages between royals are supposed to last a lifetime. However, William and Kate Middleton have had highs and lows like any other relationship. It must be difficult for them to spend quality time together because of their busy schedules.
Duncan Larcombe, a royal expert, gives his insider knowledge about the royal couple’s date evenings and the reasons behind their continued chemistry.
Duncan Larcombe, a royal specialist, discussed how Prince William and Kate make time for each other and what their date evenings entail in an interview with OK! Magazine in 2021.
He also explains the reason behind the continued strength of their spark.
“Kate and William’s relationship blossomed when they were at St Andrew’s University, doing normal student-y things and just enjoying each other’s company,” Duncan said.
“Being a future king, you might expect William to whisk Kate away to Paris for the day or an extravagant lunch at a top restaurant, but they’ve never been like that. They’re more of a fish and chips on the seafront type of couple, as we saw when they went back to St Andrew’s for an engagement recently.”
“Reminds them of their student days”
William and Kate made sure to go out and spend some time together on the town once the COVID-19 limitations were removed in the UK.
When the Prince and Princess of Wales visit Kate’s parents, for instance, they typically make use of the proximity of George, Charlotte, and Louis’ grandparents.
Prince William and Kate Middleton aren’t interested in ostentatious stuff, as Larcombe noted. However, they choose to hang out at a more “normal” location more often.
“While the doting grandparents do the babysitting, William and Kate have been able to slip to the local pub for a night out, just the two of them,” the royal expert explained.
I’m told that they did this to celebrate William’s birthday in June [in 2021]. “Another favorite of the couple is for William to cook bolognese for Kate, and they sit on the sofa watching TV. It reminds them of their student days when they first met and their enduring romance began.”
Although William and Kate have presented themselves as a happy couple, things aren’t always as they appear. William and Kate attended the wedding of Jordanian Crown Prince Hussein and his spouse, Saudi Arabian royal Rajwa al-Seif, in Amman, Jordan, only a few months ago.
Following that, the wedding guests got an opportunity to welcome the newlyweds and wish them luck in their future endeavors. There were cameras everywhere, and they captured the moment when Kate Middleton and Prince William were supposed to greet the bride.
William’s “rude” gesture to Kate
Following a brief exchange of words, Prince William spoke first, and then Kate took on. But after a short while, William thought it was time to go on. As she spoke to Princess Rajwa, looking agitated, William pointed to Kate and urged her to hurry up. Furthermore, it is said that the future king said to her, “chop, chop.”
William, of course, only wanted Kate to move quickly. However, his actions toward his wife have drawn criticism from a number of royal experts.
Body language specialist Judy James expressed her displeasure to the Express. William didn’t have one of his “finest moments when it comes to either body language or words,” according to her.
“While he has clearly moved on from the meet and greet with the bride and groom, Kate stands talking to the bride in an animated and very friendly way,” James said. “She is not causing a ‘log jam’ [by] holding up the queue and the next guests are still talking to the groom, so there appears to be no logical reason for William to hurry his wife along, especially as she only adds a few seconds to the conversation.”
Moreover, James stated that the hand gestures were “bad enough.” She continued to congratulate Kate for ignoring William’s behavior. However, she added, “It has to be said that his behavior is overly dominant here, with his critical parent behavior putting her firmly in the implied role of a naughty child.”
The body language specialist determined that the prince was “rude.”
William and Kate have, according to royal expert Tom Quinn, been known not to want to appear as “the perfect couple that everyone else should try and emulate.” within the royal family.
William and Kate’s marriage “not as perfect as it might seem”
Prince William and Kate Middleton are like any other couple, and they will undoubtedly have days when they are “really, really cross with each other,” as well as moments when they don’t even speak to one another, the author of Gilded Youth: An Intimate History of Growing Up in the Royal Family told Fox.
The Prince and Princess of Wales aspire to be viewed as a typical couple, and they experience the same stresses as other parents, including having to work and dealing with the demands of parenthood.
Tom Quinn contends that despite their seeming harmony, they have disagreements just like any other happy marriage. They do, however, know how to make compromises and get by in daily life.
“From people I’ve spoken to, it’s not as placid. It’s not as perfect as it might seem,” Quinn told Express. “But William adopts the manners and the way of behaving of his grandmother, and Kate is very good at not complaining and adopting.”
The royal expert continued, “Both of them have stuck to the thing that made the late Queen such a remarkable monarch. They very, very rarely complain. And when they do, it’s always in measured terms.”
Quinn went on to say that Kate and William also have arguments. The Prince and Princess of Wales, however, “throw cushions” since it is “always kept under control,” unlike other couples who “throw heavy vases at each other.”
“It’s like a Jane Austen novel.”
Quinn elaborated on the nature of Prince William and Kate’s marriage in an interview with Fox in March 2023. Even though they have adorable and sly nicknames for one another, it’s “not all sweetness.”
“Kate might seem to be a very calm person, and William also. But it’s not always true. Because the big stress for William and Kate is that they’re constantly surrounded by [palace aides]. It’s like a Jane Austen novel,” Tom Quinn claimed.
“Kate is very much the calm one,” he added. “William is the one who’s a bit hotheaded. We see an example of that in Harry’s book… But Kate is very level-headed. She’s the one who will pour oil on troubled waters and go, ‘Let’s not stir things up.’”
