The Duke And Duchess Of Sussex Have Given Their Children New Names, Revealing A New Chapter
As part of their continuous rebranding, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex have given their children new names, revealing a new chapter in their royal journey.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s most recent rebranding initiatives are proof of their dedication to creating a new course for themselves going forward, both personally and professionally, as they continue to reinvent their royal identity.
News of King Charles’s cancer diagnosis coincided with the name change.
On February 5, Buckingham Palace revealed: “During The King’s recent hospital procedure for benign prostate enlargement, a separate issue of concern was noted. Subsequent diagnostic tests have identified a form of cancer.”
“His Majesty has today commenced a schedule of regular treatments, during which time he has been advised by doctors to postpone public-facing duties. Throughout this period, His Majesty will continue to undertake state business and official paperwork as usual,” they added.
The Times cited a source stating that Prince Archie Mountbatten-Windsor and Princess Lilibet Mountbatten-Windsor, the king’s grandchildren, will now go by Archie and Lilibet Sussex.
Since the coronation, the kids have allegedly been referred to as Sussexes, a reference to Prince Harry’s previous position as Captain Wales from his time in the military.
The choice to take different names is a notable break from the precedent set in 1960, which stated that any future heirs of Queen Elizabeth II would bear the surname Mountbatten-Windsor.
Harry and Meghan recently underwent a makeover that went beyond changing the names of their kids, after earlier controversy surrounding their rebranding efforts. Their website, which was earlier called Archewell.com, has changed to Sussex.com to better represent their royal heritage.
The couple during the Invictus Games is featured prominently on the redesigned website, along with their royal coat of arms and the words “The Office of Prince Harry and Meghan, The Duke and Duchess of Sussex.”
Despite coming under fire for their makeover, Markle commended the designers’ efforts, highlighting their inventiveness and meticulousness. As a fan, she expressed her enthusiasm for the Canadian corporation.
Given that they now have the same surname, this rebranding effort aims to unite the family and highlight the couple’s charity activities, according to a royal source.
Though the use of the name Sussex has generated criticism, the site noticeably lacks any reference to being “royal,” indicating a conscious break from their former royal affiliations.
