After 260 Days In The Shelter, The Dog Loses Hope And Begins To “Cry Endlessly,” Hoping To Find New Home

A dog might suffer greatly from spending a long time in a shelter. After facing months of rejection, many shelters see dogs who were once joyful and full of optimism begin to lose their spirits.

Major, a dog at an Indiana shelter that has been “crying endlessly” for more than 260 days, is one example of this. Despite his previous family rejecting him, the staff at the shelter is still optimistic that he will find the perfect one.

Major is a 4-year-old mixed terrier/pitbull who is presently in the care of Hamilton County, Indiana’s Humane Society. Last summer, he was discovered as a stray. Thanks to his microchip, shelter staff were able to get in touch with his original owners, who never came for him, even though they had promised to.

Since then, Major has been staying at the shelter. Major was initially in excellent spirits, according to the humane organization, despite the painful rejection. They described him as a “sweet and sensitive” dog, a “true companion with a big heart” who loves to play and adores his Jolly Ball.

The staff referred to him as a gorgeous boy and gave him the nicknames “Major Hunk” and “Major Heartthrob.” Sadly, not everyone was aware of his wonderful traits. As the months passed, adopters continued to pass Major over.

The staff at the shelter claims that Major’s once-bright disposition has suffered from the repeated rejection.

“His spunky personality is dimming,” the humane society wrote on Facebook. “This once jolly, ball-loving boy now sits in his room and cries endlessly.”

Major was stressed and anxious in the kennels, so the shelter moved him into the visiting area. But they are aware that finding Major a long-term residence as soon as possible is the only viable option.

Major would do best in a household without little children or felines. Although he gets along well with other dogs, it’s best to meet him in person because he isn’t always aware of his own power.

Although not every home is a perfect match for Major, there must be a family out there who would be the perfect fit for this sweet and playful dog. “If you’re ready to welcome a loving, strong, and playful friend into your life, Major is the one for you!” his adoption page reads.

If you would like to adopt Major, you can see him in person at the Humane Society of Hamilton County and submit an application on his adoption website if you live nearby.

After spending so much time in the shelter, it is terrible to witness Major becoming depressed and losing his spirits.

We wish him the best of luck in finding a new residence!
