Woman Faces Backlash For Adopting Her Husband’s Ex-wife’s Child

Christie and Wesley Werts are a loving husband and wife team who started dating five years ago. After getting married, they united as a blended family.

Together, Christie’s daughter Megan and Wesley’s kids, Austin and Dakota, made a stunning family.

They had no idea, though, that their love story would take a peculiar turn and result in the adoption of Levi, a miracle child, into their family.

The couple’s tenacity and resolve were demonstrated throughout Levi’s adoption process. As the adoption process came to an end, the Werts family looked forward to taking their baby boy home after 16 months of waiting.

But there’s a heartwarming twist to Levi’s adoption story that makes Christie and her family feel like they’ve reached their goal.

Wesley’s previous partner, Levi’s biological mother, struggled with drug usage during her pregnancy and was born in August 2021 in Texas.

She tragically died four days after Levi was born at 33 weeks early, as a result of addiction and coronavirus-related complications, according to Newsweek.

When Wesley’s sister broke the heartbreaking news about his ex-wife, the couple learned about Levi. Christie was determined to provide Levi a secure and caring home because she had personal experience with foster care.

More astonishingly, for three months before even knowing about Levi, Christie experienced repeated dreams about a blonde kid with blue eyes. When she learned of Levi’s existence, this dream played a big role in her decision to adopt him.

Christie’s wish came true when the Werts family journeyed from Ohio to Texas to meet Levi through Child Protection Services. “I fell in love with this blue-eyed, blond baby the moment I walked in.” It felt so strange. This, she claimed, was my son.

The Werts family experienced additional difficulties, despite the fact that adoption is sometimes difficult, particularly for young children. They had to go through a legal process that involved the termination of Levi’s biological father’s parental rights, which required them to sell their Ohio home and relocate to Texas for court proceedings.

Following sixteen months of home visits, court appearances, and adoption proceedings, Levi’s adoption was eventually approved, allowing the parents to finally bring their baby boy home.

Nevertheless, several internet users criticized Christie for sharing the touching story online, questioning her decision despite the narrative’s endearing qualities.

Poor baby, this will make him realize this as he gets older and will cause him a lot of depression and more,” someone said.

Another user remarked,There are some things you just don’t share on the media, and this is one of them?

Many expressed their happiness for the couple and their wishes for a happy life for the new family via letters.
