Woman Wins Huge Lottery Jackpot After Using ChatGPT To Pick Her Numbers
After asking an artificial intelligence chatbot to choose her lottery numbers, a Michigan woman won the prize.
Tammy Carvey asked ChatGPT to generate the winning Powerball digits for her in jest, even though the AI chatbot had no real idea which six numbers would appear.
After the jackpot skyrocketed to an incredible $1.787 billion, the 45-year-old Wyandotte resident made the decision to try her luck.
“I asked ChatGPT for a set of Powerball numbers and those are the numbers I played,” Carvey explained to KARE 11 after collecting her prize.
Carvey won an incredible $50,000 when the numbers 11, 23, 44, 61, 62, and powerball 17 matched four white balls and the red powerball. However, because she had chosen to activate the Power Play function, her earnings actually increased.

In an instant, her prize pot doubled to a cool $100,000.
Carvey acknowledged that she rarely plays the lottery unless the jackpot exceeds nine figures.
“I only play Powerball when the jackpot gets up there and the jackpot was over $1 billion, so I bought a ticket,” she said.
The woman from Wayne County first didn’t even realize how much she had won because she had failed to check the Power Play box when purchasing the ticket.
“Google told me it was a $50,000 prize, so that’s what I thought I’d won,” she said. “It wasn’t until I logged into my Michigan Lottery account that I realized I added the Power Play to my ticket and actually won $100,000! My husband and I were in total disbelief.”
Carvey intends to utilize her AI-assisted windfall to pay off the remaining balance on her house and save the rest.
Michigan Lottery officials quickly clarified that her win was still entirely down to luck, despite the fact that it could sound like a sci-fi narrative.
“The results of all Lottery drawings are random and cannot be predicted by utilizing artificial intelligence or other number-generating tools,” they stated.
Not only that, but Virginian Carrie Edwards also made money after requesting a set of winning numbers from ChatGPT. She won $50,000, which she then transformed into $150,000 using her own Power Play multiplier.
Even if AI wasn’t able to “predict” the outcome, it’s evident that some people are enjoying letting technology choose for them. Two players who matched the identical combination divided the unprecedented September jackpot.
