Volcano Eruption Sparks Tsunami Warning And Flight Chaos Across Region
Authorities in Indonesia issued the highest degree of concern after a volcanic explosion threw a massive ash tower into the sky on Tuesday, warning residents and visitors to avoid the area.
Around 5:35 p.m. local time, Mouth Lewotobi Laki-Laki, a 1584-meter-tall twin-peaked volcano on the popular island of Flores, erupted.
In a recent statement, Indonesia’s Geology Agency reported that it captured the volcano rolling out 10,000 meters of dense, grey clouds on Tuesday afternoon.
This comes immediately after a string of significant volcanic eruptions, including fifty in two hours, as opposed to the typical eight to ten.
According to reports, the eruption column rose about 10,000 meters above the summit. According to reports, the ash column was thickly intense and grey.
According to the agency, if it started to rain a lot, it would upgrade the volcano’s alert status to the most serious warning of possible lava flows. It was unclear whether the flights had been hampered as a result, and there were no early reports of casualties or damage.
