Country Music Star Vince Gill Told To Not Mention Jesus – His Response Causes A Standing Ovation
One of the most popular artists in modern country music, Vince Gill is famous for his first-rate songwriting, world-class guitar playing and warm, soaring tenor, all wrapped up in a quick and easy wit.
It all changed for Gill back in 1990 with the song “When I Call Your Name,” which won Song of the Year awards, the Country Music Association’s (CMA) Single, as well as a Grammy for Best Country Vocal Performance, Male.
Since then, Gill has made his legacy overtime by winning a total of 22 Grammy Awards, 17 additional CMA Awards, including Song of the Year four times – making him the most-awarded artist in that category in CMA history. His vocal and performance are truly one of a kind.
With more than 20 albums over the years, Gill warms the hearts of many. However, as a devoted Christian, Gill made huge change to his style by incorporating gospel music in his performances, and people love it!
The audience couldn’t wait for him to start his performance at the Grand Ole Opry stage in Nashville Tennessee because as soon as he steps on the scene he makes a show to remember for life.
However, this time it was a bit different. The owners told him to stay away from his Religious vocals and avoid any Jesus related songs.
He could’ve appear on scene and listen to what they told him, but instead he did something that got goose-bumping standing ovation.
The lyrics of “Why Me Lord” was echoing through the place with people singing and creating memories for life. The song was originally performed by Kris Kristofferson back in 1972, but Gill revived the song with his powerful vocal skills like no other.
Everyone stood up and clapped to this amazing song. The video went viral all over the internet for all the right reasons.

We all praise Gill for staying true to his faith and we thank him for the beautiful music he has given to us over the decades.
