Trump Unveils $175b ‘Golden Dome’ Missile Shield, Drawing Comparisons To ‘Star Wars’ Era

While his first term is remembered by his absurd plans to erect a massive wall across the Mexican border, President Donald Trump is causing controversy in the United States once more. It appears that his ideas for a “Golden Dome” that would enclose the entire nation would serve as the symbol of his second term.

After his inauguration on January 20, Donald Trump signed hundreds of contentious executive orders quickly, but it was nothing compared to his larger plans now that he is back in his chair behind the Resolute Desk.

If spending $1 billion on perhaps transforming a Qatari aircraft into the next Air Force One wasn’t contentious enough, what about taxing taxpayers with a $175 billion “Golden Dome”?

Targeting ‘next-generation’ aerial threats, including as ballistic and cruise missiles launched against the United States, was something the president mentioned in passing back in January.

He has now revealed his ideas for the futuristic Golden Dome, which is a notion comparable to Stephen King’s dystopian Under the Dome, even though it does not physically place a dome over us.

Trump’s Golden Dome will incorporate “space-based sensors and interceptors,” drawing inspiration from Israel’s Iron Dome, which has been detecting and destroying missiles since 2011. The plan is allocated $25 billion, with a projected total of $175 billion over its implementation.

However, according to the Congressional Budget Office, which is impartial, the cost might be at least three times higher.

Simply put, it appears that existing systems have not been able to keep up with the constantly complex developments in high-tech weapons.

Speaking at the Oval Office, the Commander-in-Chief defended the idea that his Golden Dome will be “capable of intercepting missiles even if they are launched from the other side of the world.”

In addition, he stated that Canada had called him and requested to join the plan, to which Trump replied, “As usual, we help Canada as best we can.”

Space Force General Michael Guetlein will be in charge of the entire operation. At Space Force, Guetlein serves as the Vice Chief of Space Operations.

The Pentagon warned that China’s and Russia’s missile technology has long since surpassed the United States’ current defence capabilities, which is why the Golden Dome was built.

Cheering his Golden Dome, Trump said, “There really is no current system. We have certain areas of missiles and certain missile defence, but there is no system. There has never been anything like this.”

Not everyone was sold, with one person on X saying, “The Golden Dome might be the dumbest idea in American history. It’s like something someone came up with post-lobotomy but before the anesthesia wore off.”

Another mused: “Tump says we’re going to spend $175 BILLION on a ‘Golden Dome’ to protect us from… *checks notes* — Canada and Mexico, presumably? Endless waste, enriching his friends — as we cut health care for regular people, seniors…But keep telling us they care about the debt.”

A third said, “Donald Trump’s ‘Golden Dome’, which he’ll award to Elon Musk, is a f**king scam the likes of which have never been seen before. A $25 billion ‘down-posit’, which balloons into $175 billion? It reeks of waste, fraud, and abuse to me.”
