Tragedy As Actress Dies At 24 While Pregnant, According To Official Records
According to her death certificate, Sophie Nyweide, a former child performer, was 24 years old when she passed away and was pregnant.
Since becoming well-known in 2006, the performer has had a remarkable career, starring in films including Bella, Mammoth, and Noah.
When local officials got on the scene of a report regarding an unconscious woman on April 14, they made an effort to save her life.
At the scene, the woman—later identified as Nyweide—was declared dead. She was only twenty-four.
According to her death certificate, the actor was “pregnant at the time of death” when she was discovered in the woods next to a high school in Bennington, Vermont.
Nyweide passed away on April 14, according to an online obituary, but it did not specify the cause of death.
It reads, “Sophie was a kind and trusting girl. Often this left her open to being taken advantage of by others. She wrote and drew voraciously and much of this art depicts the depth she had and it also represents the pain she suffered. Many of her writings and artwork are roadmaps of her struggles and traumas.”
“Even with those roadmaps, diagnoses, and her own revelations, those closest to her, plus therapists, law enforcement officers and others who tried to help her are heartbroken their efforts couldn’t save her […] She repeatedly said she would ‘handle it’ on her own and was compelled to reject the treatment that might possibly have saved her life.”
“Sophie. A life ended too soon. May it not be in vain. May we all learn from her brief life on earth and do better. Yes, we must all protect our children and do better.”
In an interview with TMZ following the murder of her daughter, Nyweide’s mother Shelly revealed that she knew the former child star was abusing narcotics.
Police in Bennington are looking into a “possible unintentional overdose,” according to Chief of Police Paul J. Doucette.
Shelly said: “My knowledge is she was using drugs and was a tiny young woman. She was with other people when she died. I didn’t know them. There is an investigation ongoing. The autopsy results are not in. They said it would take 6-8 weeks. So I can’t say definitively.”
