Leandro De Niro Rodriguez, son of Drena De Niro, has passed away. On Sunday night, the actress broke the devastating news on Instagram.
In the post revealing her son’s death to the world, the 51-year-old woman wrote, “My beautiful sweet angel. I have loved you beyond words or description from the moment I felt you in my belly.”
She went on, “You have been my joy my heart and all that was ever pure and real in my life. I wish I was with you right now. I wish I was with you. I don’t know how to live without you but I’ll try to go on and spread the love and light that you so made me feel in getting to be your mama. You were so deeply loved and appreciated and I wish that love alone could have saved you.
She further wrote, “I’m so sorry my baby.” She ended her post by writing, “Rest in Peace and Eternal Paradise my darling boy.”

Drena did not elaborate on the circumstances surrounding Leandro’s untimely death. She also tagged the teenage boy’s dad, artist Carlos Mare, in the post.
Drena De Niro is the adopted daughter of Diahnne Abbott and Robert De Niro.
In 1976, when her father married her mother’s second cousin, she legally became a De Niro. She is the matriarch of the seven children that De Niro has.
The actor and his fiancée, Tiffany Chen, had their seventh child, a daughter, in May.
Now, De Niro himself has spoken out about the tragedy through a statement issued to the media outlet Page Six, “I’m deeply distressed by the passing of my beloved grandson Leo. We’re greatly appreciative of the condolences from everyone. We ask that we please be given privacy to grieve our loss of Leo.”
Drena later posted another heartbreaking ode to her kid, admitting that she “can barely type” through her tears. “None of this is right or fair and my heart hurts in a way I never knew possible while still breathing and barely functioning,” the devastated mother said.
