The Reason Why Jackie Chan Left His Daughter With Nothing
People all throughout the world, both adults and children, know and adore this girl’s father. But one child—his own daughter—did not experience this affection.
In order to survive, this girl had to sleep under a bridge and wait in line for free food, although her father was affluent and well-known throughout the world.
This girl’s father is an accomplished actor who wrote about his stormy love life in his book, “Never Grow Up.” The movie star, who was born in Hong Kong, wed his one and only spouse, a former actress from Taiwan, in 1982.
On December 3, 1982, the couple had a son, who would become their only child together. News of his affair surfaced the same year he got married and became a father.
The girl’s actor father was found to have cheated on his wife with a previous beauty queen. As a result, on November 19, 1999, they welcomed their daughter, a love child, into their family.
In his book, the girl’s father disclosed that the revelation of his adultery caused chaos as he struggled to decide how to tell his wife. He penned:
“When the news broke about an affair I’d had that resulted in a love child, the media frenzy was like a bomb going off. I wanted to phone Joan but didn’t know what to say. I wouldn’t be able to explain this. It wasn’t a mistake I could fix by saying, ‘I’m sorry.'”
The actor said that he had put his marriage in danger, and by the looks of things, he and his wife were getting a divorce. But he did not anticipate her response to the news.
The father of the girl called his wife, who was out in the country at the time. Despite her composure, he inquired about her awareness of the press. She told him there was no need for an explanation and extended her support:
“I don’t want you to hurt her, and I don’t want her to hurt us. If you need me or our son to show up and stand by your side, we’ll do that. I know you must be feeling awful now. Don’t worry about me, I’m fine. You go deal with this.”
The girl’s father was moved to tears by that honest talk, which made him examine himself in the mirror. After his wife had been honest with him for years, he apologized for keeping her out of the picture.
The director had to make things right after realizing he had disappointed his spouse by acting out of character. A few days later, he convened a family meeting with his wife and their son in attendance, and he apologized deeply for his error.
During a conference in 1999, the girl’s famous father spoke about the issue and said that his son understood and that his wife had forgiven him. In addition, he declared that he would accept accountability if the child proved to be his.
In a further shocking admission, the martial artist acknowledged in a 2015 interview that he never intended to be married and that he was forced to wed his wife when she became pregnant with their kid. He revealed:
“It was an accident which conceived Jaycee. I had never thought of getting married, but I felt it was akin to being forced to get married.”
The girl’s father also admitted to being a ladies’ man in his youth, having numerous girlfriends before secretly marrying his wife at a coffee shop in Los Angeles. The couple has spent forty years together. Even though they have been married for a long time, there are rumors that the stuntman has cheated on his award-winning wife multiple times.
Furthermore, the girl’s father acknowledged that he had not been a good father to his children. He expressed his firm conviction that children should be physically disciplined when they misbehave, just as he did with his own kid in the past.
The star of “The Karate Kid” admitted that after throwing his son onto the couch, he immediately felt bad about it because it had startled both his mother and him.
Who Is The Superstar Dad Of This Girl?
The girl in question is none other than Etta Ng Chok Lam, the famous actor Jackie Chan’s estranged daughter. Elaine Ng Yi-lei, her mother, used to be a pageant queen and actress.
The 70-year-old movie star’s predicament started after a tearful clip from his movie “Ride On” went viral.
Chan did not include Chok Lam in his book, despite talking candidly about his kid. She had recently tied the knot with Canadian internet sensation Andi Autumn at the time of the book’s publication. When she married her companion, she was 19 years old.
Chan never mentioned her, but she had earlier stated that she didn’t want anything to do with him because he was never in her life.
The Nonexistent Bond Between Jackie Chan and His Daughter
Even though Chok Lam had the courage to follow her heart, she acknowledged that she and her Canadian partner at the time, Autumn, were having difficulties.
2017 saw the beginning of their relationship, the same year she came out as a lesbian on social media. When Chok Lam and Autumn, who is twelve years her older, got married in 2018, it made news throughout the world.
Chok Lam stated that she and Autumn were destitute and had taken refuge under a bridge, despite the fact that her father is affluent. The couple, who were struggling to make ends meet, made a video in April 2018 and uploaded it on YouTube as a cry for assistance.

The now 23-year-old continued by saying that she and her partner chose to capture the video as a last resort after knocking on every door in the neighborhood and getting no response. In an attempt to receive assistance, Chok Lam even requested that people who watched the video share it with others.
After watching the video, her mother denounced the couple’s behavior. Yi-lei, who had previously provided financial support to the couple after they neglected to pay the hotel bill for their stay in Mong Kok, stated:
“I feel that if they have no money, they should go find work. They shouldn’t film a clip telling others they are broke and who Etta’s father is. People all over the world work hard and don’t rely on someone else’s fame to get money.”

Over the years, the mother and daughter’s relationship has grown tense to the point where the actress once asserted that Chok Lam was not her daughter. She was unhappy with her life, which is why she would always come to her aid.
Yi-lei was allegedly detained in 2015 on charges of abusing children, but the authorities eventually freed her. After that episode, Chok Lam, who shared an apartment with her in Happy Valley, came out and left school to relocate to North Point with Autumn.
The Miss Asia winner also discussed her daughter’s health, stating that she had mental problems and had seen a doctor prior to leaving Hong Kong, but had not attended therapy since.
Yi-Lei added that Autumn was a bad influence on her child as she was a woman in her thirties with teaching work experience. The worried mother questioned how she could let Chok Lam record a video when she was meant to give her a hard time. “It’s wrong,” she declared.
The couple’s mother chastised them for attributing their decisions to their parents, pointing out that there are others in Hong Kong who work despite receiving a respectable wage.
Following their escape from Hong Kong, Autumn’s mother reported her missing, along with Chok Lam. At the age of eighteen, she had left her employment and disappeared for several months, leaving her mother to make a missing persons report.
CCTV footage from that time frame showed Autumn and Chok Lam telling the clerk at a convenience store that she was trying to find her father. Although the video was reportedly shot in Canada, the location of the meeting remained to be verified.
When Chok Lam was fifteen, it was the first time she had ever been open about her feelings toward her father. She didn’t say she wanted money from him, nor did she want to forgive him for being missing from her life:
“He is not my dad. I have no feelings for him. He is my biological father, but he is not in my life…He never existed in my life. I will never regard him as a father. I would not say that he is my dad. I would say, ‘Oh, Jackie Chan, an actor.'”
After her parents concluded their romance, which began in 1998, Chok Lam was born. Chan thought it was a flaw in his connection with Yi-Lei. In return, even though Chok Lam had grown up watching his films, she didn’t think of him as her father.
Chok Lam declared that she would never call the actor from “Rush Hour” her father. She made it clear that she had no ill will toward her father, but she also acknowledged that their relationship was too short to allow her to accurately assess his character.
The daughter of the millionaire actor said that she was in no position to criticize her father without first getting to know him. Chok Lam declined to spend Chinese New Year’s Eve with her mother in an attempt to patch up her tumultuous relationship with her. The young lady stated in January 2023 that she would prefer to remain homeless than to mend fences with her mother:
“I’d rather be homeless and eat stale bread than reunite with my mother.”
Furthermore, it seems that she was never affluent despite the fact that when she was a youngster, people would follow her around, believing it because of her dad.

In the meantime, it appears that Autumn and Chok Lam’s relationship has ended, which was her mother’s biggest nightmare because she had previously thought she married her daughter for unsavory reasons.

When information about Chan’s true relationship with his daughter surfaced, the initially positive reception gave way to widespread criticism. Social media users brought attention to their estrangement, highlighting Chan’s financial troubles in particular, and accused him of disowning his daughter because of her sexual orientation.

People later talked about Chan’s broken relationship with Chok Lam on social media, notwithstanding the initial uncertainty around the moving footage in which he played the part of retired stuntman and movie star Luo Zhilong (Lao Luo).
“[Every] time I hear about this man and his children it’s always something awful. [He’s] definitely a horrible father,” wrote one user. “The fact that not only that is an actress in a movie and not her actual daughter, but the fact that he’s estranged from his real life daughter for being lesbian is certainly something, huh. This isn’t wholesome at all,” quipped a second user.
“[Why] is no one pointing out that this isn’t his daughter and he is a terrible father,” asked another commenter. “[Didn’t] he disown his daughter since she was a lesbian?” wondered yet another user.
According to sources, Chan has never met his daughter, nor has he provided any financial assistance or been involved in her upbringing.
