The Leader Of Greenland Issues A Three-Word Slur To Donald Trump

Although it is well known that Donald Trump wants to incorporate Greenland into the United States, the island’s officials are not amenable to this.

Mute Egede, the prime minister of Greenland, recently gave US President Trump a three-word slapdown because he had had enough of the rhetoric.

The largest protest Greenland has ever seen

Significant protests were held around Greenland over the weekend in response to Donald Trump’s remarks regarding the possibility of American occupation of the island.

The largest protest Greenland has ever witnessed drew thousands of people to the capital, Nuuk.

Given that there are only 19,000 people living in Nuuk and 57,000 in Greenland, a few thousand protesters constitute a sizable fraction of the populace.

”I’m overwhelmed by the tremendous turnout for the demonstration. I’ve never seen so many people at a protest before,” said the organizer of the demonstration in Nuuk, Orla Joelsen, to the local newspaper Sermitsiaq.

”Enough is enough!” was the message, with citizens also chanting “Greenland belongs to the Greenlanders.”

The protests also spread to the second-largest city, Sisimiut, and they carried banners with slogans like “Yankee go home” and “We’re not for sale.”

”He hasn’t shown good behavior”

During the protest march, Donald Trump was harshly criticized.

”He hasn’t shown good behavior. He only uses his media. After his visit, Donald Trump Jr. also said that Greenlanders love the U.S. We want to show that not all of us love the U.S. I hope that as a people, we can show our identity and unity without political affiliation,” one protester said.

On behalf of Greenland, Múte B. Egede, the acting prime minister who started the attempt to unite party leaders, sent a joint statement to Donald Trump. Regarding Trump’s earlier assertions, Egede stated:

”Greenland is ours. We are not for sale and will never be for sale. We must not lose our long struggle for freedom.”

Múte B. Egede, the prime minister of Greenland, took part in the protests this weekend as well.

”It gives us strength, and it’s moving to see so many people showing unity in the country. It is completely unacceptable for the leader of another country to try to pressure our land. Unity is our strength,” said Múte B. Egede.

Joining Múte B. Egede at the march was Jens-Frederik Nielsen, leader of the liberal political party Demokraatit, which surprisingly emerged as the largest party in the previous week’s parliamentary elections:

”It’s very moving, and I feel proud. As Múte said, witnessing this gives us tremendous strength. We may have many different opinions on many different issues, but on this one, we are all united and standing together,” said Jens-Frederik Nielsen.

There has been much discussion about this whole issue, and it is obvious that the people of Greenland are not going to back down anytime soon.
