Teen Accused Of Murder Walks Free — His Cold Reaction To Shocking Question Sparks Outrage

Stone-faced, the youngster who was accused of stabbing another student at a high school track competition was released from custody.

After a judge reduced the bail amount from $1 million to $250,000, 17-year-old Karmelo Anthony posted bond on Monday.

When Anthony was questioned about his accused victim, Austin Metcalf, 17, who passed away in his twin brother’s arms after the brawl on April 2, he remained unyielding.

Wearing a gray suit jacket and a black collared shirt, Anthony stepped out of Collin County Jail on Monday afternoon, ignoring the pandemonium around him and heading straight for the waiting automobile.

“Karmelo, why were you armed at school?” he was asked during the short walk, in video shared by Fox 4.

“Explain your self defense. How was this self defence?” The reporter proceeded to follow Anthony and his entourage in lockstep.

“Karmelo, do you have anything you’d like to say to the victim? To the family of the victim?”

The 17-year-old was charged with first-degree murder for the death of Metcalf, who was stabbed in the heart during an interschool track meet, and he made his court appearance on Monday.

Since the alleged crime, he has received an overwhelming amount of support, raising over $415,000.

His family countered that the money was needed to pay for his legal defense, move, and hire security in order to avoid the terrifying death threats they had received during the widely reported case.

Prosecutors had questioned his father, Andrew Anthony, at the hearing about why he was unable to utilize the more than $415,000 in donated funds for his son’s defense to cover the $1 million bond, which had been lowered to $250,000.

The family’s plans to spend the money were made public after a spokesman claimed they were unable to leave their house because their address had been posted online.

They had been subjected to “graphic and racist threats,” the spokesperson said, which included images of “black children with knives stuck in their head.”

Anthony’s attorney, Michael Howard, said, regarding the money, “It would be disingenuous to say there isn’t money… But it is not a bond fund. This family needs to be able to survive.”

Anthony’s bail requirements include wearing an ankle monitor and he needs Judge Angela Tucker’s approval before he may leave his parents’ house.

According to Anthony’s parents, their kid excels academically and is the captain of both the football and track teams at his high school.

According to reports, he was the eldest of three kids and had never been arrested prior to Metcalf’s death.

Before the stabbing, he worked at Foot Locker and had a second job at an H-E-B supermarket. He was also the captain of his school’s football and track teams.

In the past, a representative for the Anthony family was compelled to refute claims that Austin had harassed the alleged murderer before to the deadly altercation at the game. Before the terrible stabbing, the two youngsters had never met.

According to an arrest complaint, NBC DFW claimed that Metcalf told Anthony he was sitting under a pop-up tent belonging to another team and ordered him to move, which sparked an altercation between the two elite football players.

The two students from opposing high schools began fighting before Karmelo unzipped his bag and reached in, telling Austin, “Touch me and see what happens.”

The report says Austin then “grabbed Anthony to tell him to move and Anthony pulled out … a black knife and stabbed Austin once in the chest.”

According to reports, Anthony fled before responding police arrested him.

He had reportedly told a school resource officer, “I was protecting myself” and “He put his hands on me.”
