A Doctor Explains Why Taking A Shower At Night Is Always A Better Option Than Taking One In The Morning

People in the world can be divided into two categories: those who take a shower in the morning and those who do it at night.

Personally, I prefer taking a shower in the evening since I enjoy going to bed feeling clean, especially after changing into new bed linens and a new set of pajamas.

While the decision ultimately comes down to personal preference, medical experts have also shared their perspectives on the ongoing controversy.

Doctor Aragona Giuseppe, a general practitioner and medical advisor at Prescription Doctor, is one individual who has shared what they consider to be the finest choice.

According to Dr. Giuseppe, taking a shower first thing in the morning may be more common since “it awakens the senses and refreshes you ready for the day ahead.”

This does not imply that it is the superior option, though.

Dr. Giuseppe actually seems to believe that taking a shower at night has greater advantages than taking one in the morning.

Among these advantages are the fact that it helps you unwind before bed, relieve shoulder strains from work or the gym, and removes the filth from the day.

Speaking further on the matter, Dr Giuseppe told Glamour UK: “The main benefit of night-time showers, however, is that during the day, your body and your hair can collect airborne allergens and irritants, dirt and grime, especially in the summer months from pollen, chemicals and sweat.”

“So if you go to bed without showering, these will then transfer to your bed and sheets and may not only promote dirty bedding and night time allergies but could also cause itchy, irritated and dry skin as well as facial skin issues such as acne due to dirty sheets and pillow cases from day time oil and dirt.”

In conclusion, Dr. Giuseppe thinks that taking a shower at night is preferable since it encourages cleanliness and restful sleep.

Dermatologist Emma Amoafo-Mensah advises that you should shower for no more than ten minutes, regardless of whether it is in the morning or the evening.

“Many people are spending too long in the shower; the optimal time spent should be less than ten minutes,” she stated to the Metro.

“Spending longer than this increases the chances of your skin feeling dry and irritated, especially if the water is too hot and you’re prone to dry skin.”

Additionally, Amoafo-Mensah advised people to avoid using overly hot shower water since this can remove the natural oils from the skin.

Happy bathing, everyone!
