Singer Ayres Sasaki Dies After Being Electrocuted On Stage In A Freak Accident
As reported by the Brazilian news sites Istoé Gente, The Sun, and The Mirror, a musician from Brazil passed away on Saturday, July 13, after being electrocuted while performing live in Salinópolis, Pará, Brazil.
After giving a drenched concertgoer a hug while performing on stage at the Solar Hotel in Salinopolis, Brazil, 35-year-old Ayres Sasaki passed away almost immediately. According to The Mirror, the pair’s contact then caused a neighboring cable to jolt, resulting in a deadly electric shock.
Although the reason for the fan’s wetness remains unknown, Salinópolis Police are looking into the matter. The Pará Civil Police confirmed via translation that witnesses have given testimonies and the authorities have asked for expert reports.
On Sunday, July 14, the Solar Hotel issued a statement confirming that the establishment is assisting the police with their investigation. “We are fully dedicated to providing support to his family and taking the necessary measures. We reaffirm our commitment to fully cooperating with the competent authorities for the proper clarification of the events,” the hotel’s official Instagram account read, via translation.
The statement continued, “Our thoughts and condolences are with Ayres Sasaki’s family and friends at this difficult time.”
Sasaki’s aunt, Rita Matos, told Istoé Gente, “We are contacting people who were with him at the moment to understand how everything happened. We will gather all the information in a statement that we will release to the press.”
Sasaki practiced urban planning and architecture as well. After his tragic demise, his friends honored him with Instagram tributes.
“Always a wonderful person and loved by all,” was the tribute written by filmmaker Raphael Macedo to his friend. “The divine plans no one explains but I am sure you would like to be remembered by your voice, joy and friendship!”
The band RockON said, “An extraordinary person of friendliness and character, an exceptional music professional!”
Mariana, his spouse of 11 months, is his surviving spouse.
Mariana thanked everyone for their support in an Instagram Story.
“I would like to thank you for every message of affection and comfort, for every prayer during this difficult time that we are going through,” she wrote, per Istoé Gente. “I haven’t been able to read all the messages yet, but as I feel better, I will respond to each one. Thank you.”
