Singer Akon Arrested In Georgia

In Georgia, singer Akon was taken into custody and placed in a county jail.

According to jail records, the ‘Smack That’ hitmaker, whose true name is Aliaune Badara Akon Thiam, was taken into custody in DeKalb County, Georgia, on an out-of-county warrant.

According to reports, the 52-year-old St. Louis star was arrested earlier this month by the Chamblee Police Department on Friday, November 7, based on a Roswell warrant.

After being arrested at around noon, Akon was reportedly processed and released from the county jail at 6.30 p.m. that same day.

Police were reacting to a “Flock-warrant person alert for a white Tesla truck” because the “registered owner was listed as wanted by the Roswell Police Department,” according to a Chamblee Police warrant that UNILAD was able to view.

According to the officers, the car was ‘sent off to be worked on’ at Tint World when it was spotted there.

Before being placed in handcuffs, the musician allegedly “remained calm” and acknowledged that he was aware of the warrant.

The purpose of the warrant is still unknown.

In addition to confirming the arrest, the DeKalb County Sheriff’s Office told TMZ that the ‘Locked Up’ rapper had his mug shot taken while sporting a black hoodie and looking’mostly expressionless’.

The five-time Grammy nominee’s run-in with the law is not the first time.

He was imprisoned for six months in 1998 on allegations of auto theft, although they were later withdrawn.

Ten years later, when performing at Dutchess Stadium in New York, he was found guilty of second-degree harassment and endangering the welfare of a minor after he threw a 15-year-old fan off his stage.

In addition to a $350 fine, the singer was mandated to complete 65 hours of community service.

In 2008, Akon met the fan outside the Fishkill courthouse and apologized to the child, according to local newspapers at the time.

The most recent arrest occurs while the father of nine, self-described polygamist, and Senegalese-American philanthropist is on tour in India.

The R&B singer is scheduled to play this weekend in Bangaluru on Friday, November 14, and Mumbai on November 16. She last performed in Delhi on November 9.

On January 3 of the following year, he would make his way back to the United States to perform in Las Vegas.

Aside from his music, the hip-hop singer is well-known for his charitable endeavors over the years, such as his “Akon Lighting Africa” project, which since 2014 is said to have supplied electricity to 15 nations on the continent.

Additionally, he established the Konfidence Foundation, a charity that supports impoverished African children.

In July of this year, his plan to build a $6 billion tourist destination in Senegal called Akon City with a cryptocurrency-based economy called Akoin failed.

Inspired by the African nation in the Marvel superhero film Black Panther, the celebrity had great expectations that it would be a “real-life Wakanda.”

On September 11, this year, which would have been their 29th wedding anniversary, Tomeka Thiam, one of his alleged four wives and the mother of his 17-year-old daughter, also filed for divorce.
